Looking at 2012/13 S63's
I'm looking to upgrade my current 2011 E550 to a new ride and have my eyes on a CPO S63 or a new CLS550. There are a couple of black / black CPO's near me - 2012 with 19k on the odo, exec rear seating w/massage, B&O stereo for ~$72k and a 2013 with 10k on the odo, exec rear seating, distrionic, and parktronic for ~$83k. Not sure if either of these deals are solid and wondering if there are any of the new features on the 2013 from the 14's.
I do realize that the CLS / S are two totally different animals. The CLS speaks to me from a design pov and think its one of the best looking cars on the road. The CLS interior is exactly the same as my current E550 which gets tight for my teenage sons. The S is beautiful car and so much more practical in that the rear seat is functional for those over the age of 10! And the added umph of the AMG will satisfy my need for speed.
So any concerns with the 2012 / 13 S63 model years and how does the pricing sound?

I have a 2011 S63. The car is pratically unchanged for MYs 11-13. I have not experienced any issues whatsoever with my S63 and have not heard many other complaints with these MYs. Some people complain about the MCT transmission being jerky during down shifts but I have not personally experienced any issues.
With the minimal information that you have provided as far as options go for the 2012, KBB says that for a good condition or higher vehicle, the fair market price ranges from $67,254-$76,783.
The choice of CLS 550 versus S63 is a matter of personal preference. The S63 is a large, roomy, luxury sedan that also doubles as a performance vehicle. The exhaust note is excellent if you like the sound of the exhaust on performance cars. If you have the optional Performance Package, you will receive an additional 27 HP and 74 lb.ft of torque.

If you're looking to upgrade from your E class you won't be happy with the CLS as it's essentially an E class chassis and suspension.
Sclass another universe as you indicated you realized. Probably just need someone to tell you that the S class is a lot more car going in the direction you're headed.
