Seeking advice on 2014 S63 or 2016 S63?
Seeking advice on used Vs New. I would be in the market for an S class, perhaps in about 6 months..
I would like help/comments about depreciation of a 2014 S63, in the next 6 months.
They seem to hold value very well for now.
Typically, I don't buy expensive cars, new. I prefer to buy 2 to 3 years old..
Three times, I had bought the same car from a different manufacturer - it was a $130,000 car.. between 1.5 years and 3 year old of the 2008 model, I paid $95k down to $70 k.
Lease company typically seem to value cars at about 50% after 3 years.. Is that number correct?
After two model years, I am guessing that the car's value drops by about 40%. That is the sweet spot for me.
The S 550 does not seem to depreciate as much as a LS or 7 series or XJL..
The S63 seems to depreciate even less!
Currently, I can get a 2014 S550 with 8k miles for about $85,000.. Assuming an "average" list price of $110, that's about 22% depreciation..
I see a 2014 S63 awd with 8500 miles for $120k at auto trader.
I priced out the car I would like - 2016 new came to $152k. I could order it and I am guessing I would get a $10k to 15k discount (according to Truecar.com)
I am thinking.. why pay $120k for a 2014 S63.. Vs buying 2016 for $140k. I really don't care much whether or not it has a higher list than $152.. those are all the options I need. Rest are just nice but not essential.. BTw, I think parktronic is included in S63, right? I didn't see it as a separate option..
If any of my assumptions of numbers are incorrect, please feel free to inform me.
