Between trying to "build" S550 and S63.. I became a bit confused..
Please make suggestions..
Unless I am missing something, I can't see parktronic as an option for S63
I see it in the Premium package $4500 option for the S550..
I realize I could go to the dealer and sort it out.. but I this is easier, if someone can make suggestions.
Also, I have had auto parallel parking in my Lexus LS460l and LS600hl for 9 years and rarely have I found it to be convenient/fast enough to use in traffic. Is the mercedes version better? I might have used the auto parking for maybe 3 or 4 times in 9 years!
This is the car I am thinking of ordering.. But I don't see parktronic listed anywhere in the standard features for S63 or am I just overlooking the obvious?
I LOVe distronic type cruise.. I had it in my LS600hls but i miss it in my Jaguar..
Driver Assistance Package $2,800
DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist
BAS® PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist
PRE-SAFE® Brake with Pedestrian Recognition
PRE-SAFE PLUS
Active Blind Spot Assist
Active Lane Keeping Assist
Surround View System $900
SPLITVIEW front-seat entertainment system $710
Red-painted brake calipers $700
Cargo net $60
Cargo area tray $135
Transportation Charge $925
Total $150,675
I am guessing that the best "deal" I could get would be around $135k.. December is the best time to buy cars.. I think..
For MY 2015 S AMG cars (63/65), it was included in the Premium 1 Package, which is standard (see below). I assume it's included as standard for MY 2016 builds.
P01PKG – Premium 1 Package
235 – PARTRONIC with Active Parking Guidance
297 – Power Rear Side Window Sunblinds
401 – Heated and Active Ventilated Front Seats
432 – Active Multicountour Front Seats with Hot Stone Massage
889 – KEYLESS-GO / 871 – HANDS-FREE ACCESS
902 – Front Heated Seats PLUS (Rapid Heating)
P17 – Control Code
By the way I never use the automatic parking either, it would've been great when I was in college in the city but I never would've been driving an AMG and parallel parking in the city, LOL
...
I would say that 10 to 15% off is a definite attainable goal, not including fleet money
Peter - Really? you think I could get 15% off?
My dealer - whom I have known for 15 years and bought several cars from, including an S class - told me that now, they get 6% + another 3% from hold backs - and that all they get is total 9%.. As you know.. dealers don't like to disclose real truth..
What is fleet money?
I had to pay list in 2001 for an S class - supposedly it was Mercedes policy at that time, for Just the S class...
It seems Mercedes changed that policy with the subsequent 2007 S class, allowing discounts..
Anyway - is 15% possible? Typically, I would rather buy from him - even if it is $1000 or $2000 more than a Chicago dealer (I am in MIlwaukee) - only because he has known me for many years.. but not if he is way off.. like $5000 more expensive!
At 15% discount, a $153,000 S63 would be only $130k and all of that $22k discount would drop to the bottom line of the lease! As you know, lease residuals are calculated from list price.. Lease might be in the $1700 range.. which would be nice..
2016 S63 at $130 is much better than the current asking price of $120k for a 2014 S63.. even if I have to wait a few months!
One more question.. about 2016 S63.
My dealer said that 2016 is being "modified" a bit - to allow for remote something.. I don't think they were offering remote start but I am not sure what he meant.
Personally, I enjoy remote start.
Theres a company called Midcity engineering, who did a "plug and play" type of installation for a remote start for GL450. It has been working flawless.
Anyone know anything about this remote something starting 2016?
thanks
ParkTronic is a standard feature, on the configuration website look at the standard features
Peter.. apologies for repeating the question..
Where would I see parktronic as standard feature while building an S63?
I am sure it is standard but I can't seem to find it..
I did look under "performance and safety" tab..
Key Standard Features (14)

M brace for your iPhone is being modified to be able to start your car from the iPhone, this is a huge amazing feature and I love remote start and I would definitely consider waiting for that feature alone

Fleet money is if you are part of the lawyers Association or American Medical Association etc. I would definitely shop around more and I'm in Chicagoland I bought my car over the phone from Delaware

Now I recall.. At one point, my local mercedes dealer got my company qualified for fleet.. a few years ago.. but I am not sure if I am still qualified.. I didn't see any great benefit with that fleet qualification..
You got your car from Delaware? There are so many merc dealers in Chicago and no one would meet Delaware dealers price? Interesting..

Did you order a car to specifications or did the DE dealer have the car you wanted on the lot?

What is amazing, is this service(remote start) is free on most GM car plus remote unlock. It was part of OnStar before 2014, now they have made it free from your cell phone for all there models.

Yup There are a myriad of other amazing features on General Motors cars that we just still don't have on Mercedes cars

I love my Mercedes don't get me wrong I realize it's a great car.. But having had these feature included on much less expensive cars, I would think they'd be standard on a $100k+ car. The technology is proven and out there, just wondering why Mercedes has not introduce it in all their cars. Keyless Go with remote start on GM cars, is more user friendly and intuitive then ours. I have forgotten my turn signal some times, which I realize is annoying to the person behind me. GM cars have turn signal left on warning buzz which is a very nice feature. Maybe the German vs American car manufacturer mentality influences the decision on what to add to the car. I remember reading that BMW resisted adding a cup holder, maybe it's like that? Car is for driving not drinking in, was their reasoning..
o/p -- i think the best deal you can hope for is invoice on an amg (and any incentives available at the time you buy or lease it it). whilst dealers will go much lower on non-amg cars by dipping into holdbacks, csi points nearing their triple-net, etc, mbusa gets cranky with the dealer when they sell their amg inventory for anything less than invoice and strongly dissuade the dealer from doing so.

ajm,
I agree. so on o/p's desired car above, what do you think he should shoot for in terms of final price?

No matter how cheap the car, AMG's have higher MF and lower residuals. $1700 is not in the cards; from what I understand, a C63S costs more than that to lease...
From earlier this year, S63 AMG residuals were around 45/47/49% dep upon miles (7.5/10/15) and buy rate MF was around 0.020-0.022 even though the buy rate for a regular S was 0.013 (and think this buy rate is now 0.009)
In order to get in the 1700s payment (monthly+interest+tax), you'll need to get the MSRP down to 119K

Not going to happen
Correct.. It is going to be more like $2200... depending on discount from list.. at 15% discount for $155k list car.. it is around $2000.. + taxes of course..

I would *almost* bet you that you'll never see 15% off on an S63
You may be able to get 3-6% depending on your location and dealer's mood but most will stick at MSRP
You can probably get more if you take one from existing inventory closer to next model year arrival (Sep), December sales push or the very very slow Jan-Mar thereafter
