2017 S63 AMG Coupe 4matic
'18 S63 L versus '18 S560 L

Hey guys,

I am in search of a new daily and i am torn between a MY18 S63 L versus a MY18 S560 L. Both have First Class rear seats, same colour, same interior combination. I also have a MY17 S63 Coupe so i know some things. My question for you is: the suspension is way stiffer on the 63 versus the 560?

Many thanks

In comfort mode I would not say the 63 is “way” stiffer, but it doesn’t float on a cloud quite as much as the 560.

I had a 2007 lexus LS 460L prior and it was “smoother”...just a gentler ride than the 63.

You feel the road a bit more in the 63, and I think much of that is due to the low profile tires...sport and sport plus modes increase the stiffness noticeably.

In either the 560 or 63 the ride quality is amazing, but I had little (no) fun in the 560...just a better LS...supreme comfort.

Put the 63 pedal down and/or take some corners and you will love the suspension.

It really depends on your priorities I think.

Good luck!

Hi,

Not sure what the L is for (they are all long wheel base versions in the US, aren't they?) but I HIGHLY recommend the 18 S63. I would never, ever be happy with a more generic (see them everywhere) 560, but that's just me. They're both great, but I wanted something more exclusive and find it incredibly compliant and comfortable to the point of almost being boring comfortable.

These will be gone eventually as MB is killing off the V12. It sounds that the SL65 is already discontinued for MY19 in the US.

That said, the Maybach 650 is a bargain at this point. Exact same S65 engine and with same specs about $20k cheaper.

I have the s63 and I wouldn’t think twice about it the acceleration , handling and sound in my opinion is significantly better. A little stiffer yes, but the handling makes up for it

s550
Hi there,

My observations coming off a 2015 S550 to a 2018 S63. In comfort mode and from the drivers seat, the suspension is similar to my s550 in Sport Mode. Maybe just a touch stiffer. I drove my 550 in sport so its just fine for me. However, if you're planning on spend a lot of time in the back seat, i'd go with the S560. When i had my 550 I would hire a driver from time to time if i had late dinners or drinks in LA (about an hour drive for me NO Traffic and 2 hours with traffic) . It was absolutely wonderful. You couldn't feel anything. Recently, i had a driver take me to LA in the S63. Even in comfort mode, it was bumpier than i'd like back there.
