In Sport+ the car is not smooth at all, you get a lot of torque and the car gets that way (jerkiness) most of the time, the transmission learns how you drive, drive it harder and it smooths out but don't expect a flawless, imperceptible shifting or throttle response in Sport+.
In my experience, the previous 5.5l was a bit smoother in Sport+ but then it did not have the performance of the current 4.0.
Absolutely agree.

This is why I was trying to hone in on how OP drives the car with how many miles on it. I have 20,000 miles on my ‘19 S63. The transmission learns how you drive. I have noticed that initially the transmission was very jerky but if one gives it time and drives very easy in Sport + for some time the jerking motions calm down significantly over time to the point that they are rarely if ever there.

One thing to keep in mind is this is a very high performance motor. And when it goes into Sport + all that torque comes alive and there can be significant jerking motions. But I have played around with this over 20,000 miles and even though initially I did not like that jerking in Sport + I have come to appreciate how this car functions. The key is the transmission learns your driving patterns but one must be very patient. And ultimately have fun with this beast. I have never seen a car that is a comfort queen on one end and an absolute beast on the other end. This car is an engineering marvel. But taking the time to learn the Jekyll and Hyde characteristics can be frustrating at times BUT I LOVE this car!

2020 S63
Good morning and thank you for the reply. As I mentioned in a previous post unfortunately I have the only newer S63 in my Province and very likely the only one in all of Atlantic Canada.

I do have a home in Toronto (which would likely have many newer S63 available to test drive) however I cannot travel there currently because of the COVID-19 travel restrictions.

When my car was recently shipped to a dealership in Montreal to see if they could solve the problem, the service department was supposed to compare the performance of my car in Sport+ with another unit that they had sold recently (as they did not have another S63 on their lot). I assumed they did this however because they did not specifically tell me that my car handled exactly the same as their test vehicle, this tells me that the test vehicle did not have the same issues. If it did then they would have told me this for sure.

After having my vehicle for close to two weeks, all they did was reset the transmission and sent it back with the standard reply that nothing is wrong with my car and this is how they all operate.

This personality trait is one of the reasons why I wanted to make sure no one drove my car before I did. I picked my ‘19 S63 up at the factory (Euro Delivery) with 8 miles on the clock. I have 20,000 miles on my car. One problem with these cars is if there are any miles driven on them before the first purchaser the transmission starts to learn the driving patterns of the idiots who test drive these cars. This can cause the jerky transmission motions to continue for a prolonged period of time since when people test drive these cars they want to “see what they can do” causing the transmission to be jerky for a prolonged period of time. Since no one else except the Sindelfingen factory workers drove my car before I did I have been able to mitigate the transmission jerking motions earlier than if some test driver of my car drove the hell out of it in the first 100 miles. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you so very much for the reply. This is very encouraging news. I do agree that the car is fabulous in all other aspects so I am hopeful that my car will correct itself over time as well. To be honest I do not plan to bring it back to the dealership unless there is another issue as they seemed to have had it longer the I have lol.

I have spent a lot of $$ on Renntech mods for my S63 and made it absolutely perfect.
Turbo upgrade made it a total monster but created a significant problem for me, what the hell can I replace this car with???

I have a 2017 S63 Cabriolet 8,000 Miles , Just replaced my SL63 & my car has that same jerking motion when I am in sport mode driving slow, especially if you go ever a few bumps and your foot moves on the accelerator bit. That is why I do not drive it it sport mode some times. ??????? I just thought it was normal or sought they could fix that. I am a dealer in the Boston area & this is my personal vehicle. the only reason I put it in sport is so the exhaust sounds more like my SL did.
