Cushy daily - Spend my money!

This S63 crowd on this board seems super well educated in the high-end segment. I need to pick your brains.

We just relocated from New Zealand to the U.S. and had to sell the whole garage in the process. Good time to sell, yeah. But bad time to buy a new garage.

I bought a new GLS for family/school duties. I'm now looking for a first 'allrounder' car for me. Mostly freeway commute to work and airport. Needs to sit 5 as back-up family car. Emphasis on cushy ride, specialness and audio quality. I'm down to the following short list:
  • Lovely 2018 S63 in mocha, with Designo interior, standard Burmester. CPO, should be little ownership drama
  • 2021 RS6. Found one on 21s, these wheels ride and look better. Bang & Olufsen audio but not the top end, okay-ish sound.
  • 2018 Range Rover Td6, CPO as well. Torquey engine but not a sporting machine by any stretch (I really dislike the stiff ride of the Supercharged). Super cushy, great place to be. Meridian 825W audio, good not great.

Have you owned two or more of these? Which one would you go for?

Many thanks

Ill quickly chime in. I have had all 3 of those platforms you mentioned.

2019 S63 (fully optioned out and modded) still have it in my current line up. Absolutely love this car. Its my second 19 S63 and I've had a 18 S63 as well. It does everything very well for a large car. Very low key, only car guys know what it is. In Comfort setting is just a daily cruiser, in S+ is a animal. Other then Rolls, its my best comfort vehicle. I would suggest getting a well optioned S63. The higher end audio package is worth it, my first 19 had the standard and my current 19 has the higher end audio package. The S63 Is not a vehicles that is easy to install aftermarket audio. 1 option I think the car could be with out is the Night Assist. I have used it only twice, and it was for **** and giggles to compare to my actual NVGs/NODs.

21 RS6 in Noggy Blue. It was one of those dream cars we always wanted to come stateside. So the hype for me was more then the car delivered. Unfortunately I didn't mod it to really enjoy it. It sold well over sticker. Great car though, not even close to being comfortable as the S63. They are 2 completely different platforms. Still an awesome car. If I can get my hands on a Velvet Purple one I would buy another. I think once its lightly modded it would be fun.

Ive had a 2018 Range Autobiography LWB. Electronics sometimes would act up but just small things. Room for the back seat was amazing. Pretty comfortable, I would say between current chassis G63 and a Cullinan, smack dab in the middle for ride comfort. haha. I currently have a 2019 Range SV. Its tentatively sold. Reason Im selling it is, I wish it was a LWB, its a huge difference from Standard Wheel base and LWB. The SV as a whole was a huge step up in every aspect compared to the normal Range Autobiography. Now would I get another Range. I really don't know. If I could get my hands on a 2021 LWB SV in the spec I want then I prob would. If not the word is they will do a full vehicle refresh for 2023.

Hope some of my humble opinion helped. The issue is sitting 5 people in those vehicles. I personally wouldn't take any of those if I needed to seat 5 people. May be the RS6, and that's a slight may be,. I would prob take my truck. It might be worth it for you to check out the new model Escalade. Its pretty comfy, tech is amazing, looks really good, and has room for 5 even in the standard wheel base. Good luck on your choices. Congrats on the move. My boxing coach is from NZ and is pretty well know there. He goes back couple times a year, he said its been hard with all this nonsense going on right now. Plus y'all got locked down recently he mentioned.

Thanks mate, that is very helpful.

You are one of several people who didn’t fall in love with the RS6. Great car and all, but somehow not as visceral as their Merc, nor as easy to live with as the Range Rover.

Yeah, NZ’s vaccination rates are still fairly low, which means the Delta variant could rip through the population. That means tight lockdowns for the weeks to come.
