2015-19 S63 What are the differences

Hi there
Looking for an S63 and understand that there was a face lift in 2019? Any difference through 15-19? CarPlay started in '09 correct? Trying to educate myself and appreciate the help/ expertise....

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
There was a pretty dramatic facelift in 2018 that introduced a new Hot V Turbo V8 putting out north of 600HP mated to a new dual clutch transmission. All systems were updated and a new GUI for the dash with much better glass was introduced. I would not buy a 7 year old S63 as age is as hard as mileage on these cars. I just purchased a 2019 and it is an amazing car. If you can afford a 2018 or newer example that is the way to go. Just 100% more refined than the pre facelift models.

Super helpful. Alternatively, also looking for an S550. Did the better dash start with 2018 or 2019? Saw a 2015 with low mileage that appeared to be a good choice too....Had an AMG before so tempting to go back....Thanks again!

New dash and SW was 2018MY. I came from a 2015 S550, very nice car but on a different level from the S63. The reason I went with an S63 vs the new S580 are several. I don't like the new look inside and out, I wanted more of a sports car, and the S63 is becoming more rare as they discontinued it in 2020. There are rumors of a 2023 MY S63 but supposedly it will cost close to 200K, more than I am willing to spend on a car. At 6'7" I do not fit in a 911 or C8 or I would have purchased one of those. The S63 is really two cars in one. Docile freeway cruiser in comfort mode and crazy fast sports sedan in Sport+. It will keep up with just about anything on the road and is super plush and comfortable in the cabin. Plus, unlike the 911's, Audi's, and Tesla's, you do not see very many of them on the road so it is a unique car. Most people think it is just another S class but the car guys know what you are packin.

The W222 S63 was significant not only for the engine to the new 4.0L engine but also the much better 9 speed MCT transmission (the old 7 speed is slow and a bit clunky) and the dramatically updated 4matic+ AWD.
