2015 S65 Sedan
New S65 W222 Owner Tips

Hey guys, my dad just picked up a 2015 S65 Sedan with about 45k miles. He daily drives a Range Rover but thought this car would be fun on the side while still being comfortable. I drive my stage 2 Audi s4 pretty hard (don’t hate me) so I try to drive the V12 every chance I get. I was wondering if you guys had any tips for a new W222 owner and things to look out for. I typically drive the car hard when I get a chance as that V12 is too fun to push. Also looking to do light mods in the future like maybe a Renntech tune and downpipe if you guys had any idea on that. Thanks!

Oh man enjoy! I’ve got a 2018 with the ceramic brakes and I’ll hopefully never sell it.. I think I’m approaching 34K and just know it won’t be long before I need rotors. They way I drive that beast. There’s just something magical about that M279 engine. I’d say keeping it used and serviced regularly is our best bet naturally. One thing I’ve learned is AMG makes the best rims by far. I put a set of HRE’s on it for about 12K and within 3 weeks I had a bent wheel. It’s just such a big heavy monstrosity of a car that begs to be driven hard!

OP.... Fresh fluids!
Engine oil... transmission oil... engine coolant... charge coolant... ABC fluid.... differential oil....

Keep an eye on tires and brakes. If you are a savage (like me) you will quickly learn that as the car seems to bend the laws of physics on the road you will pay for it with these consumables.

Cars I have encountered in the past with a RENNtech-tune have needed frequent spark plug replacement.

Hi Mr. Lane
Sorry to try this way of contact you. I don't know if you recibed my private mesage. It is regarding your adventure with your S65 engine that broke becouse of a crankshaft shell bearing. I think I have the answer to your problem, that now is mine also. Check your old post where I explain what could happen. If thats the case we could go and talk to Mercedes about it. If what I think it happens, there could be a security issue with some serial numbers on this m275 engines. I would like to get in contact with you.
Best regards
