I wanna go to 22's but tire weight issues have me concerned
At issue is the fact that the 20' tires 255/40/20s have the weight capacity of 1819 Lbs front and 285/35/20s have the weight capacity of 2149 Lbs recommended by MB.
ALL 22's that I have researched m- 255/30/22 & 295/25/22 - including the tires that I want to put on "Conti DWS 6+" have lower ratings. Specifically, 1521 fronts and 1619 Lbs on the rears. there is a 300 Lbs deficit on the front and almost 500 Lbs deficit.
Vossen dealer is telling me that this is no big deal and very common and that nothing ever happens. Discount Tire wont even sell them to me as a package or install them due to the risk of the tires not holding up and exploding at worse or uneven wear at best. Either way, they wont take the risk of installing them which is always a big red sign when someone doesn't want to take your money.
I know there's lots of you with ELM lowered cars riding on 22's. My car has CCB's so I have to go 22 to clear them. Am i overthinking this or has anyone else ran into this issue and has a work around. Thanks in advance for the feedback and advice.

His point is that the car has a curb weight of 4800 LBS. The average 4 passengers will represent 700 additional LBS for a total of 5500 LBS divided by 4 corners is 1375 LBS per corner. The rating of the Conti's are 1521 for the fronts and 1609 for the back which is higher than required. He stated that OEM set up is there to withstand the worse of worse driving conditions and that anyone with a modified set up, generally, will not be driving in the worse of the worse.
His logic seems sound
