WIRING QUESTION FOR 2015 S65 W222 CHASSIS

HI ALL,

AFTER PURCHASING A USED 2015 S65 AMG...I REALIZED THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD AN AFTER MARKET RADAR DETECTOR (K40) AND THE INSTALLER RAN THE 3 POWER WIRES & 1 RADAR SENSOR THROUGH THE FIREWALL AND INTO THE CABIN BY PUSHING THE DRIVER SIDE FACTORY FIREWALL GROMMET ASIDE INSTEAD OF DRILLING A HOLE AND INSTALLING A PROPER RUBBER GROMMET. BY PUSHING THE FACTORY GROMMET TO THE SIDE....IT LEFT A GAP THAT WOULD ALLOW WATER INTRUSION AND WOULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO A SHORT AS THE WIRE SAT BETWEEN SHEETMETAL AND THE GROMMET. IN ORDER TO AVOID AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, I CUT THE WIRES GOING THROUGH THE FIREWALL AND MADE SURE THE GROMMET COMPLETELY SEALED AGAINST THE FIREWALL TO KEEP WATER AND MOISTURE OUT. AT SOME POINT I MAY WANT TO PROPERLY REWIRE THE DETECTOR...CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE WHERE I CAN ACCESS A PROPER CONSTANT 12 VOLTS & AN ACCESSORY SWITCHED 12 VOLTS? THE PREVIOUS INSTALLER RAN 3 WIRES TO THE UNDERHOOD DRIVERS SIDE FUSE BOX AND PLACED THEM UNDEER THE FUSE BOX COVER...AGAIN LEAVING A GAP WHERE WATER AND MOISTURE CAN GET INTO THE FUSE BOX. I RATHER MAKE THE CONNECTIONS UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE HUSH PANEL. NOT SURE WHAT THE BEST INTERIOR PLACE TO CONNECT IS...WITHOUT CAUSING ERROR MESSAGES FROM UNEXPECTED E;LECTRICAL DRAW.
I DO NEED TO RUN 1 WIRE FOR THE RADAR SENSOR THAT SITS BY T HE FRONT GRILLE.....CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SUGGEST THE BEST WAY TO GET THROUGH THE FIREWALL AS WELL?

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME
RICK

You should reach out to @superpop He has radar wired into his car. He showed it to me in person once, but I can't remember how he did it. He definitely mentioned something about how he went through the firewall or found a way to not do it. Good luck

Hi all,

Has anyone found an easy way to route a wire from under the drivers side dash through the firewall using a factory opening without having to drill an access hole? I need to rewire radar sensor wiring that was done poorly and leaving gaps in grommets where water and moisture could enter.

Thank you,
Rick
