Question S560 VS S63 AMG

Hey everybody I’m currently in the market for an S63 AMG, I currently have a 13’E63 and think an S class would be a proper upgrade. The only issue I’ve found is that seems that the S560 and S63 2018-20 Facelift models have the same 4.0 V8 engine. Am I wrong for thinking It’s pretty much the same engine and thinking I can just throw money at it to get the same performance?? Thank you guys for the info

The M176 engine is machine assembled and the M177 in the S63 is hand built. They are largely the same engines otherwise with difference in performance. However, if you throw money at an S560, it's still an S560. There's more to an AMG than engine power. Everything from the suspension to the drive programs is honed for performance. The S560 will be a floaty, aloof boat in comparison. By the time you are done with the S560 to get it to the level of an S63, you paid for the S63 and then some.

The cars are VERY different! I looked at an S560 and it is an awesome car!! If you just want some additional horsepower, which I don't think it needs, you can always do a tune. But if you choose an S63 it's an entirely different animal. It's mostly better, and in some ways much better. But it has 2 major drawbacks. 1. Road comfort and isolation; you will feel more road imperfections with more intensity and more frequency. 2. 2018-2020 don't use a torque converter; it takes some getting used to. The cars are very different, no money will turn an S560 into an S63; too many different parts, most bespoke for the S63.
