S65 production numbers?

I thought it might be fun to ask AI the question and the image attached is what I got in response. Notice how the reply makes reference to this website for data???
For the Ruby Black paint (897) it shows only one sedan and one coupe in 2019.
Caveat is that 2019 is the tail end of what's covered by the EPC data, so these numbers may be missing some later vehicles.
What's the latest FIN/VIN you know of for 2019?
The base source of the data is the MB EPC (Electronic Parts Catalog), which amazingly has FINs and build data on pretty much every vehicle MB made starting from the early 90's and up to the 2019 model year. Beyond that MB has gone strictly online with their apps, so we will be deprived of data on 2020 vehicles and beyond. MB is pretty secretive with production data. The only official source of data from MB that I'm aware of is their public archive Mercedes Public Archive. It contains some gross totals for most models, but not all.
Here are reports I ran from my database on the S65 Coupe and S65 Sedan. I have found it to not be 100% complete, but it's close.
These are currently the only S models that I have pulled data for.
) I was also interested in determining how many optional extras were selected - for example for 2015:heated windshield was only on 19% of cars configured,
surprisingly 37% had the rear fridge (given how much room it takes up!)
86% carbon fiber package (really?)
33% ceramic brakes (I've never seen one for sale yet)
If I understand your PDF - could we interpret that there were approx 1,721 S65 across the production years including final edition (as those utilized the same shells and part, with different colored body panels) Either way, it's quite a few more than I expected given how rarely they show up used.
Are your numbers worldwide? I think so.

I have data for S65 coupe/cabriolets only. Here's what I have:
2015: 329
2016: 270
2017: 679
2018: 115
2019: 111
Based on "model year" there are no 2020's that I'm aware of coupe/cab.

The latest one I have is: WDD2221791A447860
Cheers.
Cheers.

As you probably know, MB has moved all shop applications online. Online EPC seems to have all the newer data, but needless to say there's no longer a way to tap into the database servers. So, you guess at a FIN/VIN and it tells you whether it has a datacard for it.
The numbers are worldwide, but I have full build data, including delivery location, so it can be broken down by country as well. The stats report also shows delivery counts to the country of the specific vehicle being reported in the stats. The caveat right now is that the stats report for an S65 sedan won't be accurate as far as totals.
I have what I believe to be the full set of all S65 coupe/cabriolet vehicles delivered. The coupe/cab deliveries stopped around mid-2019 model year, about the same time that they stopped delivering SL65s.
At this time, I know I do NOT have all the S65 sedans, but I'm working on it. The difficulty is that there's WAY more S sedans (of all variants) than S coupes/cabs. And, unlike S coupes/cabs, deliveries of S sedans continued into the 2020 model year.
I'd rather not get into how I gather the data right now, but here's some interesting tidbits about the tail end of the S65 sedan production found so far:
- Some S65 sedans show delivery dates as late as 2025. Appears that some people waited a LONG time for their S65.
- The FIN/VIN prefix changed from WDD to W1K in 2020 for S vehicles delivered to North America
- Five of the later S65 sedans found so far were recorded as "scrapped" in EPC. Have seen one or two with the SL, but not that many.

2015 - 1022 worldwide, 400 US (5 of these were designated as "scrapped" - possibly crash testing)
2016 - 255 worldwide, 69 US
2017 - 183 worldwide, 27 US
2018 - 241 worldwide, 54 US
2019 - 118 worldwide, 22 US (may be missing a few at the end)
2020 - TBD (but probably fairly low)
Note that these counts are by model year, which is a bit of a guessing game for vehicles without VINs. For those, I have my own methods for deciding based on production/delivery date.
The numbers up through 2018 are considered complete. 2019 may have a few stragglers not yet found. And 2020 isn't done yet.
I'd be happy to share all the data with you if you like. I can export it in a csv format that's compatible with most spreadsheets.
