Are there any aftermarket batteries that are cheaper than the mb oem battery and still meet the specs of the mb oem battery? I know this a dead horse topic but when I found out the cost for my battery, I was a lil surprised and had to check on the forum if the oem battery is the only replacement option.
You seriously can go to Walmart and get a compatible battery.
No you can't please do not comment on something you do not OWN or even KNOW about. These cars as an owner have a lithium ion battery. When you look it up on a parts catalog there are around 5 AGM options. 48 is the correct size. However, you need 90AH minimum for load balancing. which would only be a bci95 AGM battery, You can get away with a bci94 but I wouldn't recommend it.

Huh, it is at the clinic right now, and a photo is a PITA as the battery is under our passanger seat...but - YES YOU CAN GET THE BATTERY AT WALMART. I have done it.

Asa note: Optima does not make a battery large enough for my GLS. This is the largest one they make (see, I am pointing at it for you).

Weird, Walmar has it...So does AutoZone, PepBoys, Oreilly. Walmart (as I said) has an easier return policy.
I thought you were pulling my chain about Walmart. per another post, an AGM would require a coding change. I saw a website that has a group that can help with coding an AGM battery. But I guess spooning out the 3k for the lithium-ion is the sure bet.

I learned a TON about the batteries the hard way in our BIG Mercedes (RV conversion). It has the MB OEM starter battery, another AGM for the engine (I wont lie and say I get it) - then four more BattleBorn batteries in the rear that are all interconnected - and connected to a converter for 120v as well as the Generator. Well, during that time I had our other car battery die - was having a conversation with our Mercedes Master Mechanic who said "hell, just to to WalMart and get one, we can code it in" - thus, went to WalMart and got one....For me, it is a freaking battery, just needs to supply voltate. Also, for me - WalMart has proven to be an easier "warranty" swap as they dont care - they just swap it out.....
Thank you. Just got 11k covered by my extended warranty before it expired. Turbo lines were denied replacement because the lines were not broken, even though the dealer suggested replacement. Nice to know the battery has an option vs. oem. Thanks again for the advice.

Your optima is 72AH oem is 60 for the lithium. Still need 90AH for agm. You're not in an s class like myself and OP. So yes it will be fine. However, in the S63 S-CLASS you will run into issues if you have the car in accessory mode for more then 5 minutes where the command will start yelling at you and turn itself off.

THE H8 group size (95bci) is the battery that would be REQUIRED for the car. It is annoying to fit in the S63 with rear seat package or on the base s63 coupe as its behind the rear seat, I had an annoying time getting even the 48bci battery to fit in, I tried a 94bci (H8) and had to remove the brackets and leave the tie down strap off due to fitment issues. THEY ARE NOT LOCATED IN THE ENGINE BAY LIKE YOUR GL.
The original group size (48bci) will NOT have enough AH to compensate and will sadly shut down the command after around 5 minutes which is hardly enough time to get through the module and a quick test via xentry, requiring an additional battery tender which shouldn't be necessary for something that's not trivial.
Can you throw in a bci 48 battery and run the car like normal? yes, but with problems of the command shutting down after 5 minutes or getting battery warnings, if you don't turn the car on for a day or two.
