Light came on at 17k miles. Dealer says I need pads and rotors? This normal? They want almost $8k. I told them no. This normal for daily driver? Best place to get brakes?

If you really are talking about a GTS, then I would post this in the ‘Coupe’ section.
In short: if you have iron brakes then unless the car has been tracked, the rotors should be fine and it probably only needs new pads, IF the originals are worn although 17K street miles is fairly short to have to replace the pads.
If you are just experiencing a vibration in the car when you’re braking, then you probably only have uneven brake pad deposition on some/all of the rotors if the pads still seem to have plenty of depth left on them.
