Published by Alex Shahini on May 19, 2022The new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance F1 Edition has debuted and become the most powerful production model from the German brand. The performance tweaks are accompanied by a host of visual upgrades which make the price tag equally as flabbergasting as its power statistics.
The latest GT 63 S E Performance F1 Edition looks set to ride off of the domination and success of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team and their eight year constructor streak in the pinnacle of the sport. Despite their poor start to the 2022 campaign, their victorious Formula 1 endeavours will forever be etched into the history books as does the latest edition to their portfolio holding the title as the company’s most powerful production car – at least until the AMG One arrives.
The PHEV 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine puts out 620 kW and 1,470 N.m while exterior upgrades aren’t only aesthetic since the aero package has been developed in a wind tunnel to provide high speed handling benefits while reducing drag at the same time. These include a bigger front splitter and air deflector elements, rear aerofoil and a tweaked diffuser. The optional appearance package which is priced at a whopping €23,800 also includes 21-inch forged dual five spoke wheels with a matte black finish and red rim flange to mimic their FIA F1 Medical Car. For context, this package costs as much as a Jeep Compass does in our local market!
The model is finished in Alpine Grey from the Manufaktur catalog while glossy black accents compliment the red decals found on the rims and lower section of the car. The AMG GT 63 S E Performance F1 Edition in all of its glory will set buyers back €222,815 in Germany – or just under R4 million.
No images of the newcomers cabin has been provided but it will come with Nappa leather seats with red and black stitching to echo the exterior details. With the price tag it demands, we can only hope it at least includes the signatures of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton on the dashboard too!
