If I have the 322 Appearance package...what is leather and what is not

322 comes with "Leather Seating Surfaces" so what is leather and what is not...does this mean that only the center of each of the seats is leather and the rest is not? Is this front and back or only front?? What about the doors???...For me, with two kids, the less leather the better...just curious what I have

TIA

Chris

The MBUSA web site says that the '06 E350 comes standard with "M-B Tex upholstery with leather inserts in front seats." The '06 E500, by comparison, comes with "Premium leather upholstery on all seat surfaces, including head restraints and front seatbacks, door armrests and gathered door trim inserts." The 322 option group on the '06 E350 promises "Leather Seating Surfaces" and "premium leather upholstery."

Based solely on what MBUSA advertises on their web site, the 322 package on the E350 would seem to replace the synthetic upholstery on the non-perforated side bolsters of the front seats with leather, and to replace the all-synthetic rear seat upholstery with all leather. The 322 option doesn't mention the head restraints, front seatbacks, armrests or door trim inserts, ao I would assume that those stay synthetic. But I really don't know, apart from parsing the web site.

I raised absolute Hell with MBUSA on this subject of "leather seating surfaces" and the E320 CDI/ E350's.. Basically their website, in the side by side comparisons stated that Leather was standard, and this was in the form of the partial leather (or inserts). The dealer then told me, and I purchased two cars, from two separate dealers, in two separate states, that the surfaces of both the front AND back seats were leather, and that the rest of the car (less the steering wheel, and shifter) was MB TEX.. I bough off on this and figured that it wasn't important enough for me to pay the extra $1500 or so for the door panels and head rests... WELL THIS WAS A LIE.. The fact is, and if you dig deeper (read the in depth wording on the website) the leather surfaces are ONLY ON THE FRONT SEATS, AND NOT THE REAR. Basically, your rear seat on a 2005-6 E class without the optional full leather is Vinyl... I told my dealer that I expect my rear seats to be as I was sold... Leather surface.. I'm still working this issue with them as well as MBUSA (who's has so far stonewalled me).

If I were you, I'd call MBUSA and complain if you were told that your rear seats are Leather.. cause THEY'RE NOT!
