Replacing Bosch IC pump with Johnson C030
I just had a chance to replace Bosch pump with Johnson. I was going to put together a kit to make it easy, but in all honesty it is very straight forward swap that does not require any special adapters or tools.
Here are the pictures:
1. Stock Bosch Pump.
2. Johnson is smaller physically, but delivers 50% more flow (22.5 L/min vs 15L/min).
3. Simply bolt Johnson pump to the factory bracket.
4. Here is what it looks like on the car. Connector was just spliced.
5. Here is data before and after - same route, just about the same ambient temperatures - 90F vs 92F. Both pumps cool about the same, if anything Johnson is about 10F cooler.

probably going to do this to my E55...
thanks for the write up.
I think it would be best if someone can find the right connector. I did on my C32, but I had to search a "pick your part" store for it.
splicing works too, but having a connector would make it a nice clean job.

Thank you guys!
You will have to disassemble the pump and cut out the connector and than splice it into Johnson pump.
One q: is it possible to dismantle the old pump in such a manner that would allow for the connector to be reused? Thanks!

Any chance you could show some piccies on how to wire it up so it runs all the time when the ignition or engine is on, so the computer doesn’t turn it on/off when it thinks it needs to ?
