Replace C250 Battery?
My 2012 C250 w/18k miles battery needs to be replaced.
I went to the dealer this morning and they wanted $100.00 labor to replace it and that is too much.
So I'll probably replace it myself or have a store replace it.
What do I need to know to replace the battery? Should I put a battery charger on the battery jump posts to keep the electronics alive?
Thanks

What is the total cost the dealer wants for the battery . I wouldn't trust just any store to do it, if you loose codes because some moron doesn't do it right, you might need a tow to Mercedes . And what battery are they using. I've had the best batteries fail quickly several times, luckily the shops were reputable and did a free swap. If you consider, warranty, liability, loosing codes, and all your electronics, I know my dealer is changing my battery when it goes bad. For you to have to ask how , and what equipment you need, well if the car looses power, it could end up costing you a lot lot more. Plus your getting a top quality battery, not something of unknown life.

The entire package would have been around $300.00 US at the dealer.
I checked several sources and found a premium battery at O'Reilly's Auto Parts that looked identical to the MB battery for $200.00. And they had hardware that kept the electronics alive during the swap.
No charge for the installation that took about 15 minutes.
The new battery has a three year 100% replacement warranty with no prorating.

I hate paying MB premiums too, what worries me is is the tech is just clipping a power supply onto exposed remote battery terminals, my battery is in the engine compartment right behind those terminals, glk 350, for my set up it would be very hard not to knock off a cable when pulling the battery. If your battery is in the trunk it would be much safer to do the job. I use an AGM battery, it's best you replace yours with the type it came with, the charging system is programmed for it.
