If the 'off' indicator only stays lit for a moment at startup, then that is just a check of the indicator light and system and it should be enabled.

That is kind of weird, on my 2016 when i turn off the Collision Assist it automatically comes on every time I restart the vehicle. I guess MB made it so you have to physical turn it off each time so they are not liable for any accidents.

My 04 Jaguar XJR was loaded with front, rear sensors and expected that this car may have. And if you read my initial post you will see that I have a light, buzzer going off on my dash that shows the front and the rear of the car directional lighting up and then goes off after 10 seconds (it also shows has OFF in between the arrows). SO if you can help please do so, if you only have some wise crack then send me a personal message

I do not have the sensor on the dashboard or rear panel. WOW kind of shocking on such a late model car...

So I took it to the dealer.
And since I can read English, I had set it up correctly but the system was not functioning properly. It seems to be shutting itself off each time I turned the car off. They replaced a small module within 24 hour and it is working properly now.
Thank you all for your assistance with this issue, frustrating has I was turning it on per the instructions, it is running perfectly now!

Your amazing, not flaunting just stating a fact. The F car is a canyon carver, would love to see you on Mulholland and then have to have you towed out of the side of the road you just slipped off. Sounds like you are that type of guy, besides the F cars look damn good and I have to say never break down, ever. I walked away from Merc's several years ago and went with 2 Jag's, both xjr's. I'm kind of amazed it doesn't quite frankly. Our $45k Lexus has parking sensors front and rear and heated/cooled seats as standard yet a $65k Mercedes doesn't have those features? Kind of astonishing if you ask me.

I will say, our CLS550 is very nicely equipped. That's an $80,000 car though.
The Lexus is going bye bye anyway. We are a two Mercedes family now.

I am sure everyone is proud of your hard work and diligence in your acquisition of your life’s dream. Well done! Now understand for some of us this is strictly a daily driver and in such have some questions.
No I did not read the owner’s manual immediately and had a question, so sue me. My bad or what? But your infantile behavior and name calling is absurd and unwarranted. Ultimately the car had an issue that was only resolved at the dealer with a replacement of a module. Love my warranty until 2021!
My daily driver (E350) soothes me fine for its purpose, my other toys are for other enjoyment and they do well in their own right. No need for envy, no need to name call. Like we say in Cali "don't be hating". I will reiterate - you are welcome to come out to Sunny California – we can then handle it like gentlemen if you have the upper hand I will gladly buy you a drink. You may need it. Enjoy the ride, I know I will

They're in business to make money. And making money means keeping the customer happy. It's not as though this is a world class sports car, it's not. It is a luxury car and as such should come with some luxury features... not just leather seats. And don't get me started on MB-Tex interior materials.
I will say, our CLS550 is very nicely equipped. That's an $80,000 car though.

To be fair, it's really the dealers that order most cars that are on the lot and most people just buy whatever is on the lot. It's easier for the dealers to sell 55k-60k cars than 65-70k cars so they don't order it with all the options. Lexus is also the johnny come lately to the luxury party so they have to offer more to entice people to buy their cars so it's not really obvious that MB should have everything Lexus does because if they did, there'd be no reason to buy a Lexus.

However I cannot get my CPA to activate and function; I have read countless threads and read pages 247-248 in the manual where it states:
"Activating/deactivating the distance warning function
Press the < o r> button on the steering wheel to select the DriveAssist menu.
Press /\ or \/ to select Distance Warning.
Press the OK button.
The current selection is displayed.
To activate/deactivate: press the OK button again"
However, I do not have that menu in my instrument cluster at all. What in the world?
