So like my previous 2015 C300 Sport, the rear diffuser comes stock painted...this time on my C450 it's painted a matte silver. Although I feel this matte color looks better than the C300's color matching diffuser, I still feel the rear diffuser would look better in black. So I went over my options...buy a carbon fiber rear diffuser for $400 or more, get the rear diffuser vinyl covered at $200 (only lasts about 3 years), or get it painted like I had done on my C300...but this time I wanted a matte black.
So I dropped by the Mercedes dealership close to me (MBOB), and asked if they could do the same paint job on the rear diffuser of my C450 just like they did on my old C300...but this time in a matte black. "No problem" they said, so I dropped the car off that very same day after work, they put me in a loaner at no cost, and the very next day they said it was ready for pickup. $150 total...a bargain if you ask me...and I'm very pleased with the result. Thanks MBOB, you guys rock!
Don't you guys find that it makes the diffuser disappear being black? Because it sits so low on the car and is already surrounded by black trim, I find that painting it black simply makes it disappear... I like the silver color (OEM) because it remains visibile and you can see some detail on it... Just my thoughts...
I've been thinking about swapping my night pack exhaust finishers with the silver ones to give a little contrast. Although I love the gloss black diffuser, the pipes kinda disappear.
The flat black looks nice though.

I think they did a great job too...thanks!
I've always hated the body colored rear diffuser on the W205 (unless the your car is black!). On the lighter colored cars specifically, to me it makes the rear end look higher up and SUV like.
I also like the contrast of the chrome exhaust tips and the black diffuser/lower bumper insert. Black exhaust tips would just get lost in all that black.

The diffuser is only body colored if your car is silver, though - which I guess is the case for you ... The diffuser is silver for all paint colors so I can see why it may not stand out as much on a silver car...

On the C450, the rear diffuser comes only as matte silver...no matter what color your vehicle is.
On a C300/C400, the rear diffuser is whatever color your car is.
Depending on the lighting & angle...you can still see the fins on the rear diffuser after painting it matte black. I think the chrome exhaust tips against the black lower bumper/matte black diffuser looks awesome!
Re the colour, I am not trying to impress anyone, especially those that may have an opinion on whether my bumper lower panel profile is visible enough for them ....
Its not even a real diffuser....
The comment on the lighter colour raising the back deffo holds true for the white body......Mine was white matched to body colour and looked pap... i did it gloss to match the pano rof and gloss rear roof panel on the wagon..
It will also match the side skirts in fills and mirrors when i get around to getting them done..
For me matte would have looked incorrect.. but only due tothe extensive gloss black on the roof (there's a lot of it on a wagon with a pano..)
None of these look bad though.. mine was done for free when the rear bumper was replaced after someone bumped int othe back of the car... all new bumper and a repsrayed lower plastic piece.. the colour was down to me... so that ended up working well.. unil then i was going to vinyl wrap it...
Do you happen to have a link to the seller you purchased it from. Looking to do the same on mine. Thanks
Ofc i do i think there is 1 left! And btw its friggin original stuff aswell though they have scratched away all the serial numbers, so its probably stolen from somewhere.

The fitment looked perfect! I was wondering if it was oem. The diffuser from the link mentioned said it ships from Romania? Is that where yours came from?

Lol. I'm considering buying it from USA, but if the serial numbers are scratched off - is it really noticable? I'm concerned it can get seized.
Is it oem or not cuz i much prefer this. Can you post some more images of the fitment on your car? It's really clean
