Amazing build, what color are you going to paint it? Would love to see it in some sort of special color and even 2 toned like some of the new G63 and G65.
I'm not gonna do a color change I'll just keep silver. I might wrap the vehicle later just to have something different but as far as repainting, it will be original silver.
Silver is the easiest to care for and looks good as well. Mine is Tektite Metallic Grey and wish for a lighter color when I detail my G. Always a new scratch somewhere. Where did you get the G63 brakes? Staight forward swap or need some modification? Mine is a 04 G55 and have the same stock brakes as you. Only reason stopping me for the swap is the price. Having someone installing big brakes run around $6-10k depending on brand. If I can do myself and save on the labor, think I can be do it for under $4-5k
Yes, thats why I'm ok with Silver ). I had black cars before and they are just such a pain to keep clean.
I purchased ALL G63 parts that Im putting on my wagon from one person who did a "Brabus 700 4x4 square" conversion on his G63 and sold me everything that came off his wagon. As for G63 brakes install, it was a simple swap, BUT you need to have the adapter bracket, )which came with the calipers that I purchased from him).
you may want to take down the seal around the windshield before painting it. Mine had a ton of rust hidden there. Also check the top side of the trunk door. Rust was hiding there too.
For the last couple days I have been working on re-wiring front seat from CLS63 to make them work on my G500. At first I thought I was going to be able to swap out cushions and keep original seat frames with tracks and motors, but that did not work. Seat cushions and seat framed are very different, BUT track is the same and motors are the same and in same locations. What I decided to do is to use original seat computer, swap out original wire plugs on to the new seat (it was a headache locating the right wires for the seat motors since the new seat has soooo much more wiring). After I tracked down the right wires and soldered them onto the original plugs, it was just plug and play. At the end of the day, all seat controls from the original seat controller work perfectly. There was a bunch of other wires that are just going to be cut off or capped off since there will be no use for them (side airbag, active bolsters, seat massage, etc...). *I will try to wire ventilated seats to a seperate switch on to the center console.
Please disregard the stain on the seat, all seats are going to get re-upholstered in next couple weeks.

Was gone gone for couple weeks. Next on the list is to clean up all the rust in the cargo area. Looks like some moisture got under the carpet and created some rust spots.

Im at the home stretch of prepping it for paint. I want to make sure every rust spot inside and outside is addressed before I get it painted.
Its true that its all about the details. Im replacing every rusty screw, bolt, nut, cracked rubber seal, etc... Its definitely time consuming trying to located every little piece from the dealer, but i enjoy it.
great job so far... but now that you have the entire interior out, do yourself a big favor and Dynamat all the metal surfaces everywhere. Roof, floors, sunroof etc etc I did mine and while it took 130 sqft of dynamat to do it, it made a huge difference! Every aspect from road noise, to drivetrain noise, to wind noise and sound quality of the stereo system and simple things like being able to hold a normal conversation on a handsfree phone system. WELL worth the extra effort
Yes, Definitely that's the plan. I found a company in Europe that sells similar product to Dynomat, i'm going to insulate entire interior and then go over with special sound deadening foam in some places like roof and doors. I also want to laminate the glass with 18 mil film, possibly give it some sound insulation and protection as well.
I started with one case of Dynamat extreme, but soon realized I would be needing 5X more material, so i switched to a nearly identical competitor brand sold thru amazon at 1/2 the price with all the same sound deadening values as the Dynamat extreme. here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/Noico-deadeni.../dp/B00URUIKAK
Per some requests from other forum members, here are pictures of the seat plugs that I re-wired. I used my original G500 seat computer and wire plugs and saldered them on to CLS63 seat wires. All seat controls on my G500 work perfectly with the new CLS63 seats.
I hope these pictures help "a little" anyone that wants to do similar swap. Basically you have to unwrap CLS63 seat wiring and track it back from the plugs to the seat motors.
FYI: the extra seat features on CLS seat do not work, just the seat motor controls.
It's moving slowly but surly. I just wish I had more time to work on it but trying to squeeze in as much work in between my work as possible.

wow this is very impressive, must of costed a fortune just for the g63 OEM parts. i am actually looking to upgrade my 2 front seats to the 2011+ e350 seats, just like the g550 seats. but it seems like a headache and a lot of work.
Im glad with all the G63 parts I got, they were basically new.
Seat wiring was a headache, but after a while I got it figured out. As I mentioned in previous post, only basic functions work, which is all that I wanted.
i am trying to replicate the g63 sound for my 2002 g500. I've been trying forever, i tried removing resonators and buying magnaflow exhaust, but none of that even sounds anything like a g63 or even g550. all i need is the quiet deep rumbling sound
