Just got my first Benz! Have a few questions and looking for suggestions :)
Hey guys,
Just picked up this bad boy last night and I have been driving around all day today just enjoying the amazing feat that is German engineering. Coming from a Camry, I have to say I now understand why this car costs so much! I had a few questions about the car and I would really appreciate it if you can give me your opinions.
1. What do you think would be an optimal tint level for this car? I'd like it not to be too light, but at the same time I would like to make sure I don't have any problems in visibility at night.
2. The Burmester sound system is good (but so far it's not great). The bass is very decent but for some reason the sound is a little bit muffled on USB and Bluetooth. Satellite Radio seems to sound quite good for some reason - you would think USB connection would produce the best sound. I checked my EQ settings and changing them from the defaults doesn't make too much difference. Any suggestions from owners with the Burmester system?
3. What exactly does the Assistant Graphic screen in the instrument cluster do? It seems to show me the front of the car but doesn't really show anything useful. Maybe I am missing something?
4. Is it possible to upgrade the wheels on this car from the base wheels to more sporty looking ones? I know that as an option, you can upgrade to 18" wheels for ~$1200 at the dealership, however, I am not sure if upgrading after purchasing might cost more. This car has the 17 inch wheels, which feel fine but most of the wheels I have seen online for the C300 are 18 inch +.
5. What cool upgrades would you suggest that wouldn't be too expensive and preferably not too hard to install?
Here's the new ride! I really love the way the front and the rear are designed. It gives you that aggressive look IMO while maintaining luxury and style. Beautiful car!

Congrats! Nice upgrade. There are several wheel companies you can go with that offer wheels in the $1000 to $2000 range. The Dinan $300 tune is also a great first mod. Feel free to message me and I can help you out with anything you need.

I don't think your car has the Burmester stereo in it. It looks like you have the smaller screen and no Burmester speaker grills.

The assistant graphics can show the status of functions in the driver's assistant package.
They consist of:
However judging from the picture of the front you don't have that option.
However page 2 of that screen should show you the driver alertness state.
They consist of:
- Lane assist
- Blind spot assist
- Adaptive cruise control
- Etc.

I see burmester grilles in the photo.
As for assitance graphic, it depends on spec. Mine just shows traffic sign assist. If you have the driver assitance spec then you'll get distronic etc
i didn't get that stuff, I prefer to drive.

There's a write up on the Burmester (link in sig) or www.w205audio.wordpress.com
Don't be in a hurry to lower the suspension or upsize the wheels...your Base car on 17's probably rides nicer than 90% of the car's on the forum.

I find that turning it on can sometimes produce better sound quality, but for other tracks, off can be a little bit clearer. I think with surround off the speakers sound like premium speakers in a normal car (Honda and Toyota for example) but with surround on, the sound is very very immersive but sometimes can be a little bit unclear or muttered. Still experimenting with the best settings...

The first thing I'd do is get rid of those hideous 17" wheels (keep them for the Winter though). The 19" AMG wheels may give you too harse a ride, so as a compromise you could get a take off set of stock Mercedes 18" AMG wheels/tires on ebay for about $1,500 dollars.

Haha.. Thanks! They're actually not too bad in person but the 18s and 19s aren't even a question! Do you know where on ebay I can find 18" wheels/tires for that price? Most of the ones I've found have been upwards of $2,500...

I have been using 40% ceramic tint on my cars. I am very satisfied with the look and night visibility with this %. Good luck with your new ride. Enjoy and have fun!!!!

Just picked up a set of staggered 18" C63 reps for $700 myself on EBay. Those and a set of MPSS would do it for you.

As an aside, I don't put tints on the car. "No tinted, let you know who's in it". lol A lil Drake for ya.

yep I 2nd what Jatt said. all good choices.
several on here have the Dinan unit as well with good results and for 300 bucks and 20+ hp that's a respectable gain for $$ spent

speaking of which, i just saw a zonda cruising on the highway. don't know if the car was tuned or not, but the exhaust note was orgasm to my ears. first time i ever watched a zonda on the road, and the guy wasn't shy, he was doing short bursts here and there. i just could not keep up with that dude on my c300.......LOL
