Since I had no interest in the car I decided to redo the body and add long tube headers. I've started to remove all the plasti -dip that's been on for 2 years. I'll also be replacing all 4 doors and taking care of any rust. I'm not sure if she will get painted black or plasti-dipped black. Here is a pic of what she looked liked before I started to take her apart.
I replaced the two doors and fender on the passenger side of my car last winter because of rust / dents. I still need to get the panel gaps evened out. The hardest part was transferring over the window regulators and airbags
The car looks great....kudos on your work.
You mentioned...'take care of rust'......how were your rocker panels?
The wife's baby is at the body shop right now........we're accustomed to spending $2-$4,000. every year or two on the rust and trying to stay ahead of it. Unfortunately, we now have the rocker panel (driver's door) rusted through from the back.
It's painful, but I'm actually thinking of drawing the line on this one.....I'm guessing that replacing both sides would run $6-10K. Darn, these W210's sure were terrible for rust.
She is pretty def keep fixing her. I bought a parts car from FL to replace a bunch of my rusty parts. My driver rocker has rusted threw so I'll be cutting out the cancer and welding in a piece from the parts car. If you need any patch panels I'm not using ill donate them to you. Here is a pic of my problem area.
Yep.....that is the spot.....thanks for sharing.
And....I might say that yours looks a bit worse than ours.....but no matter, it has to be dealt with, regardless.....or abandoned.
We may spend the money.
She loves the car......and her next ride is 2 yrs out......deposit on something that will become available then.
But......she would have to make it though this winter and next.
Darn shame....great cars (otherwise) .
Great work! I've got some rust taking hold on my front fender I'll get addressed in the spring, luckily that's a part that unbolts from the car, what you're dealing with there is nasty!
