I just services my car twice for the B service and the dealer told me my rear pads are worn. Any suggestions for better than OEM pads or should I stick to the OEM. Obviously the dealer asks for around 700$ without taxes just for the back pads which seems like a lot. Is it really worth doing it at Benz and if not which pads are the best for a 2015 C63 Coupe.
I have EBC Blue Stuff brake pads on my car currently. I think they are better than stock. If you are changing them out yourself make sure you buy new pad sensors. They are not worth trying to save. The clips break really easy.

Better than OEM pads / best pads... better (or best) for WHAT? Best grip levels? Best modulation? Longest lasting? Low dust? Lowest rotor wear? Street use or track use? Do you want them to grip at -25C? Most of these are mutually exclusive... and if you don't already know this, I would respectfully suggest you stick with the OEM pads. They are not the best in any one particular area, but are very good at all of them - something that you'll be hard pressed to find in an aftermarket pad. Various aftermarket pads may be better than the OEM pads in one or two specific aspects, but that always comes at the expense of something else.

Exactly. Best means a lot of things. What does it mean for you?

Let's see... compared to OEM, they squeal a lot (on the street), they don't have as much bite at freezing temperatures, they're three times more expensive and nowhere near as rotor-friendly... yeah, there are trade-offs.
Also rear pads are $225 so that $700 quote is a rip if they are just replacing the pads. Even if they do 2 hours of labor it should still be below $500.

And if they do two hours of labor they were on a smoke break for half that time.

Mine are absolutely silent on the street. But, I will conceded on all other points.
So true, just had mine apart, 1 hr is lots of time to change our rears.
Yes, but you are paying for the shop to move your car into the garage, lift it, take stuff apart, change the pads, put it down, test drive, etc. So I would not be surprised if it was 2 hours book time if they don't prorate (should be closer to one hour though).
My point was that even if they "overcharged" for two hours of labor there's no way it should be $700 just to do pads. That's nuts.
