wolves.creed is not even going on about an AWD vs RWD comparison.
He is saying the CLS is faster than the E when both are RWD or both are AWD when both are equally powered.
Gaspams trap speeds he posted was to to show that on stock turbos the best traps for both CLS and E are the same.
Just go on dragtimes and look at tunes cls RWD vs tuned E RWD or both tuned with 4matic, trap speeds are very similar for both. Why are we agreeing that a cls is faster than an e when equally powered? It makes NO sense.
And again, the E is lighter, same final drive and better aero than the CLS so to say cls is faster really has no explanation.
As for the whole rwd vs AWD the fact that both trap similar when RWD does its best indictates that it should still be close
yes at the half mile RWD is likely to pull on it but it won't be a big difference imo.

This is an e63S
black wheels
black air damn
the 2014 e63 non S doesn't have those two options

Its nothing to do with comparing 4matic to RWD.
Gaspams posts was to show that in trap speeds it doesn't look like CLS when equally modded to an E is faster, it's just the same ballpark, and there's more reasons to say the E is faster than cls with its weight and aero advantages it has.

It looks like the night styling package and black wheels were optional on the non-S according to the 2014 US marketing materials. It can always be different in Europe. I usually use the brake caliper colors to try and tell.

So what's the conclusion is this e63 in the video against the RWD PP e63 an e63S or is there a possibility it's accurate about being a NON S?

wolves.creed does not have enough actual scientific evidence to back that claim, he may have anecdotal evidence, but anecdotal evidence does not replace scientific evidence or volumes of data (which I have not seen) that shows that the CLS is "always" faster as he mentions.

I think on all night styling packs it is black below. I was surprised myself when I saw this E63 for sale. Unless they went through the trouble of blacking it out themselves.

So so with a huge difference in torque it still took until 130+mph to catch up. If both had 590 instead of AWD at 531 it likely would never catch up to it before AWD hits the speed limiter.

just checked it again. It's clear the calipers are the standard gray and definitely not the red calipers of the S model.

from a roll with equal torque RWD will still always have a weight and slight power advantage but just pointing out the video there was done from a complete stop with the RWD having a significant torque advantage which if it didn't have it likely never would of caught up to it.

Why is everyone so freaking hung up on this RWD vs AWD crap if I wanted a fast RWD I would of bought one this discussion is honestly kind of stupid. Hey guess what a hellcat charger is faster then a E63s from a roll. This means nothing.
1) there is always someone faster
I raced a built subie the other day from a 40 roll to 140 and lost by a car and a half we did it 2 times he pulled both times. He had rods pistons 62 mm turbo on e85 and 25lbs of boost.
We did it from a 20 roll and I put 6 cars on him and he stood no chance. Did a dig also and I put 2 busses on him.
2) if you want a roll race car there are much better options period. And you bought the wrong car.
I love my e63s I bought I knowing it's flaws but also its strengths. Stop getting so hung up on this roll racing vs the RWD version.
UGGGG!!!!!!

Your absolutely right about RWD being better for roll racing and if that's what people want that's exactly what they should buy.
The real discussion here is really about a guy who came on here saying he has 15 E63s and CLS63s in his "city" that raced and from 100km-200km the CLS is always "faster" even though we all know it makes NO sense because it weights more and has a worse aero than the E. This comparison is being made with both the same so 4m to 4m or RWD to RWD, he's saying he just doesn't understand in general WHY CLS won when it shouldn't.
so IF this is true we just want to know why that's happening, what's different about them that we don't know.

The E63S could have a lower drag coefficient but more actual frontal area than a CLS63 which could impact high speed aerodynamic drag.

Also, wouldn't the lighter weight of the E63 be a greater benefit at higher speed than less frontal area?
I read its something like 200 lbs. lighter, that's ALOT.

Problem is you are over analyzing every part of this roll racing crap. Why does it matter if the cls is faster? It doesn't !!!!!!!!
Between your posts on the forum hung up on roll racing from the moment you joined the site. And the numerous private messages you have sent me and other members who I have talked to about your PMs regarding roll racing. Frankly it has gotten kind of annoying. You have an addiction step away from the roll racing put down the keyboard take a deep breath.
No no I said put down the key board.
Ok never mind go sit in the corner.
