Blind Spot Assist Inoperative warning driving me nuts - can I kill it?
My BSA system started malfunctioning a few months ago, so I disabled it as I don't really like it anyway. Things were fine for a while but then I started getting the dash warning every time the car was started (even though system's disabled - wtf?). No big deal, I just cleared it and was on my way.
Now, I'm getting the warning randomly even while I'm driving, which is a pain in the a-- since it takes up the entire screen and I have to clear it constantly. Is there some way I can take BSA completely offline so that the warnings stop - either via a fuse or something else? And if I do that, will it cause any of the other sensor-based systems to freak out?
I'd rather do this before I have to start changing bumper sensors etc. especially since the car is out of warranty (2012).
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

My car is doing the EXACT same thing, started about a month ago. I searched the forum and apparently a sensor has to be cleaned or replaced but I'm not sure which sensor as my parking sensors work fine. If you find any more info please let me know. I also have a 2012 .

Nope - the system stopped freaking out after a while and is back to just giving me the "inoperative"warning when the car is started, and leaving the mirror sensors on yellow while the car's running. I can live with that until I decide what to do about it.

I checked with my dealer already and the sensors aren't covered by CPO, only by extended warranty (ELW). CPO is great for major components but lacks quite a bit compared to ELW.

PM this member konigstiger and ask him to reference anything he knows about active blind spot in operative bulletins for your make model and year. He is extremely helpful and Knowledgeable

Found the answer to my own question - https://mbworld.org/how-tos/a/merced...lletins-388882
If a technical service bulletin is issued for your vehicle, you would need to cover those costs. The good thing about a technical service bulletin is it can reduce labor costs by reducing the amount of time your mechanic spends searching for a possible problem.

I've complained to the dealer several times over the past year for this very thing. Once they replaced the accessory battery, another time they updated my ecu and tcu software. Still happens. Now the car is only under CPO warranty and there was a service bulletin this whole time. Jeez!

so I figured out how to get rid of the inoperative message. If you shut the car off but dont get out...go into your blind spot assist menu and disable the system with the ok button. Turn the car back on and the message is gone. If you try to reactivate the system it will come back, but as long as you don't the message is gone until you decide how to move forward. Was annoying me too and don't really car for blindspot assist because I look over my shoulders plus mirrors for any merge or lane change. Hope this helps.
