Thanks guys. Here's an all silver I'm painting. Bottom part you see silver is tape. I don't like to paint that part any other color but black.

Do you have a picture of one of them opened up. I'd like to see the insides to see what your are cutting out.

The top picture the part is facing inside out. The other picture is the bottom of the inside. I've already removed the plastic fins. Those thick looking rails are not removable so they stay.

Also the fins on the inside of the air filter box get removed.
Than I weld the cover I cut open back in place. With those plastic fins removed the throttle body will pull in more air with no distortion.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Zayed. Been getting nice responses even from other type Mercedes that this air box also fits.

So I want to say if anyone has this type of air box in your car. I can modify it for you. You can send me your own or I will buy one to modify and ship to you.

Private message me or even better PLEASE email me direct at geo3617(@)gmail.com

thanks.

Box arrived yesterday, looks great. I will try to install this weekend if I can steal an hour of personal time. Unfortunately, with all the snow and salt in the roads, wont be able to put any miles on it for a little while though

Ok, home at lunch so i decided to a quick side beside and fit and finish comparison

Speeds box on right

speeds box in right. Boxes seem to be same dimensions even though mine is AMG

Speeds box on left, clean finish on clearing out baffles

Speeds box on right. outside of finish, boxes appear to be identical from factory

Good finishing work from where he cut out back to access internal box to clean out baffles. My original filter boxes fit without issue

Just a shot to show off my alligator head and my whiskey still

No fitment issue with my AMG front cover

No fitment issue with Speeds box in engine bay

A couple items to note, 1) I bought this so this box is mine and I am not being compensated. After paypal payment to Speed the box was delivered in 2 days USPS PRIORITY.
2) this is the airbox only so the bottom intake filters on your original airbox will have to be reused.
3) You will have to use your own gasket off your original box to ensure it is sealed on the intake neck. not an issue, jsut pop off old box and reconnect. 4) My Amg box has a screen in the hole (pictured above) and Speeds box does not. I do not see this as being an issue as the intake neck also has a screen and I have 2 K&N filter that woud prevent any debris from entering the airbox. If anything, this eliminates another impedance to air flow.

Weathe permitting, i will take car out to see if any issue. I did start it up and ran it for several minutes and i did not get any warning lights. Overall, I am pleased with th fit and finish, especially for something in the $300 price range. Theoretically, I should have increased airflow and I will report further when opportunity presents itself.

If anyone else with the AMG air box wants to order my air box let me know it's for an AMG car and I will use a darker silver or grey to better match your engine cover. Wish I had one to match. Anyone in Chicago with one please contact me if your able to meet.

Thanks.

Installed fast flow elbow, here is the side by side pics. Now I just need some warmer weather to melt the snow and some rain to wash the salt off the roads and I will get the car out.

Wanted to update some pics of a new color. This C55 AMG air box I just modded and repainted the whole box and engine cover to match.

This is a really nice color.

I've had some emails people asking the same questions so I wanted to post prices and options. Note: for just the elbow modded the price is $65.00 shipped within the USA.

Option one:

$265.00 or $240.00 WITHOUT the modded elbow, plus shipping.
(I will need an address to price it. So far within the USA shipping has been $35-55.00 with FedEx 3-4 day delivery. It just depends how far you are from chicago 60618).

For $265.00 I buy a non amg air box and I cut the bottom part and than I remove the fins and towers on the inside that restrict air flow. Once done I weld the back piece I cut and paint it black.
I will also send you a modified elbow that fits between your maf and throttle body. This also improves air flow. You don't have to have it, just let me know in your email. You will save $25.00 if you don't want the elbow.

Option two:

$400.00, $375.00 WITHOUT the modded elbow, plus shipping.
Same as above, accept I also cut open the sides and lift the air box higher for more air volume. This will not only give you a better breathing engine but also more HP and TQ. How much of it I don't know, has not been on a dyno yet. But customers have noticed better performance at all rpm's. I would say between 8-10 HP/TQ.

Here's the good news with this option. If you do not feel any difference in performance after 5 days, just send everything back.
Once I receive the air box and elbow I will refund you $400.00 or $375.00 if you didn't order the elbow. You have 5 days from the time you receive the items. You will NOT want to send it back. I have not had one return since I started this.

Option 3:
$450.00 Plus shipping. You provide your amg air box.

ACCEPT I CANNOT OFFER MONEY BACK. That's because you will be sending YOUR OWN amg air box.

Since you will be sending your air box I suggest you also send the following.

- engine cover, so I can paint match to the air box.
- mass airflow sensor housing, so I can mod the bottom portion
- plastic elbow, so I can mod that too. You can send both together without separating them. PLEASE REMOVE MAF SENSOR. I will not be responsible for that if any damages occur while in transit.

I do NOT charge extra to mod these 3 parts, so it's up to you if you want to take advantage of it.

This amg air box is more work than the non amg box. That's why I offer it this way in pricing. But I still offer the other two mods and paint the engine cover.

Any question feel free to private message or even better please email.
Thanks. geo3617(@)gmail.com
