When will we see the 2018 DOG?

Really looking forward to seeing the 2018 Dealer Ordering Guide for the R231. I know it will basically be the same car, but hoping to see what's being added, specifically the ability for the customer to order the car in any exterior color previously offered on any production MB passenger car. You folks out there with the tight dealer connections: LET THE DOG OUT!

Oh well, I guess I have to do everything myself! Here's the 2018 SL D.O.G. I don't see much of anything different from the 2017, do you?

And, I received notice from MBUSA today, saying that the 2018 SL will NOT be available in any special order colors. Surprise, surprise!

Well, this is exactly as expected. Unfortunately it seems that they are going ahead with these idiotic logo-mirror lamps that were supposed to be on the MY17. So happy they weren't.

If I recall, the story about available custom-colors came from you in the first place. Can't necessarily blame MB for that; perhaps you should quiz your source

I agree, the logo mirrors are idiotic and not what I would expect from a German company like MB.

Very unhappy that MB dropped Mars Red from the SL, I wrote an old fashioned letter to MBUSA and tried to get my point across as to how idiotic I felt that move was. I told them that I have owned 7 SL's, ALL of which were red and that just before I was going to order a new one, they pulled the color. In response, I received a phone call this last January--backed up with an email--from MBUSA, telling me about the custom color option for the MY18 SL. When I received the MY18 DOG and saw no such option, I contacted the fellow and he said that MB had decided against the option. So much for that.

I love the CPO 2013 SL550 I bought, but I truly miss the ABC. I will be keeping my eyes open for a late model used SL550, in Mars Red, with ABC. Wish me luck, as it will be damn near impossible.
