Navigation Version and Updates
My cars navigation system version is V1.2, the loaner I had was V2.0. The car comes with a three year free map update. Does anyone know how to get these updates. Also does anyone with a recent build have a version higher then V2.0?
Thanks

Do you have to request the update from the dealer or do they perform the update whenever one is available, when you've taken the car in for service, etc?

I recently had the car in for the navigation drifting and they didn't update the software and said they couldn't replicate it either. But got it on film now and have to go back...

Over here we can access all the navigation updates on the "Mercedes Me" Portal
Just recently downloaded the section for my area on a flash drive and updated the car, worked like a charm.
Do you have these online services in the US?

my E300 was delivered with v1.3 but i have seen reports of others with v2.x. of course asking the dealer about updates results in a blank stare and a $380 charge if/when an update is available on the Canadian side !!!
so in Sweden, free updates via self-serve Mercedes me portal
in the US, 3 years of free updates with every 2017 E class likely through dealer
and in Canada... nothing free...$$$

The Navigation is just a rich money grab, they know people will just pay so why not charge for it. Its such a joke at this time that they charge for it and not made easily updatable like Tesla started back in 2012. Barely use my cars navigation when my google maps or waze are light years ahead.

Here´s the Mercedes Me portal, unfortunately in Swedish but you get the idea,
here we can buy extra features such as "remote park pilot", "internet in car" "Geo position" and so on.
I can also see status on the vehicle, tire pressures, fuel, dorrs, sunroof, windowst etc.
This is also available in an smartphone app, slightly limited functionality but I use it to start my fuel heater in cold weather.
The navigation update feature isnt quite ready yet, it is supposed to update the car automaticlly OTA, but until then we can download all the maps or just specific areas on flash drive.

Yeah, a ton more functionality in Europe, that's for sure. Drove me nuts that I couldn't follow the build of my custom-ordered S213 in the App like all the Germans could... And over here, we can only dream of being able to order a fuel heater. Real Americans fire up the whole engine remotely

Nav updates are free and loaded when you take the car for maintenance. That doesnt mean an update is available every time you wish. In the US they usually update the database once a year.

To me, the actual map updates are not that useful since I live in a large metro city and state that doesn't change much. What would be much more valuable to me would be actual firmware updates ala tesla but that is wishful thinking.

To get a Firmware update its like asking the dealer to sign there souls away, they hate it when you ask for it. which I never understood why, the car just sits and it downloads a software...

Easy, you are filling a bay and using up their equipment that they could be using for a car that could be paying for service. 20 minutes is 20 minutes they are otherwise not making money! If they do it during regular maintenance they are getting paid for that time!

Anyone know the latest navigation version? I want to get this done at the dealer.
I wonder how long it typically takes to update.

Latest 2019 Map Version
I was having a problem with my Navigation system using voice. I would ask to navigate to an address, the system would respond with that address and then nothing would happen. I took the car to the dealer and they confirmed the problem existed but could not repair it. I asked if there was an update and they said no.
A few days later I received a letter from MBUSA telling me a new map update was available. I took the letter to the dealer and asked for the update. It took a few days until they were able to source the software from MBUSA. They installed it in my 2017 E300 and it solved my problem. The new software is terrific - much better than the previous version, even when the old version worked. The latest software is N.America 2019 V16.0
Hope this helps.
