what color will be good for rims - diamond silver metallic
Hello guys, I kind of don't like the color of these rims. As of now, I'm not ready for wheel upgrade, as these tires are almost new too.
So, My first step is to plasti-dip them.
I know glossy black won't look good, what are my options.
I don't want them to be flashy, at the same time, real matte might look dull.
My car color is Diamond Silver Metallic, which doesn't look too dull, and not shiny at the same time, IMO.
Please share your experiences and color options.
Thanks.

You're kind of limited with your options based on you wanting to keep the tires and wheels for now. Idk if plasti dipping the wheels will make much of a difference either. 17s are just so difficult to spruce up. A simpler change would be to swap out the center caps for something with no blue and all silver? Maybe just a star there since the center caps look a little damaged as is which is very common.

Try anthracite grey or black.
I dont know how other colors will go with the car paint.
But make sure to apply enough coats , and evenly. Because when you gonna be removing it , it make things a whole lot easier...
Been there done that.. took more time to take the plasti dip off then to actually paint thw wheels if you dont do enough layers.
P.s. might wanna experiment.

The current tires are brand new, so, I feel like keeping them, until I find a good deal on the 18s AMG wheels and tires.
* Even though the center caps Issue is a recurring one and I'm not alone, MB won't change it under warranty..!

Some said black won't be nice, so, I'm still contemplating, well, anyway, I could do a wheel, and peel off, If I don't like it..!
Luckily, wheels take only a day and long weekend is coming, lol.

I'll order the center caps, depending on the color I go with(they need replacement pretty soon*), most probably the black caps.

They are pretty inexpensive. I bought some for 50 bucks for the set. I think there are some a little cheaper and a few that are a little bit more. I put some silver and black to match the car.
Plus changed the valve stems to match as well. Silver/black combo.

I dont know why it tickled me so much...haha.
Raja777m, I think he was referenced the absurdity of time and expense you will incur bu plasti-dipping your entire car, not to mention the prep work and potential overspray mess it will make.

On the other hand, I asked the local shop for price and he simply said, don't do it.
Plasti Dipping is for High schoolers. Try getting it painted or vinyl wrap. Which I won't waste anymore money on these wheels.
Let's hope someone sells their AMG 18s, with tires for good price

Hahaha. I was driving the Bimmer, so the Benz's Distronic wouldnt have helped much!!
Plasti-dip your wheels but wrap your car. There is a good shop here that does an amazing job tinting and wrapping. They were wrapping a BMW i3 and a Ducati when I was getting my windows tinted. Maybe you can go to them next time you're up here...
You can get those 18" AMG wheels that the guy I referred you to was selling, once you decide you can come to like the 794 style, lol.
ha ha, true, but will start with just the wheels, should not take more than a day, in this long weekend time (If I'm determined, lol).

I think an anthracite color or similar would look good. Besides plasti-dip, this outfit may have other colors/ideas:

You can get some new center caps with black/silver for about $20.
IMO black wheels are sort of getting old, maybe because everyone seems to stick them on everything lol.
I didn't do the plastic dip. In my case I was fine with the OEM rims, but I was tired of the OEM color. What I thought about was to work with the car color in a subtle contrast. I needed 2 rims fixed from slight bends so I had them all checked/straightened and refinished.
Anyway, I wound up with a sort of anthracite over a dark base, then a bit of silver, then clear. I really like the look. I know that everyone may not like it, just sharing my thought process on how I kept rims (with newer tires) but gave the girl a bit of a change.

I saw the black wreath type MB caps online. I wasn't sure if they'd build a whitish film and be sticker like in the center. The OEM caps (blue type) that I replaced where almost like a sticker on top of the cap.

Awesome---I was looking at getting the black center caps to match m hood emblem. Where did you find/see them at? Are they OEM?
