19" to 20" - Tire Advise Needed
I have LOVED my Vossen CV3's in 19". My issue...sadly I have to replace & 20" is the only choice now for the new CV3R. While I'm anti 20" vossen service has been fantastic and working with me so the jump is likely inevitable.
Here is what would make me feel better on running 20":
245/35/20 & 285/30/20 vs. (I believe recommended is) 245/30/20 & 285/25/20
The 35 & 30 series would give me the same sidewall I have with 19". From all my searching it seems the rear is likely ok. The front is more the issue and may require shaving the upper ball joint bolt for clearance. Given Vossen is a popular wheel choice has anyone been down this road? I believe the offsets are +32 & +42.

I have 20 inch vossen front and back
For the fronts they are 245/35/20 stock suspension sport mode 2 no rubbing or turning issues but u do need to shave off that stud to level it with the bolt so it won't rub
for the rears I have 275/35/20 in sport mode 2 on hard acceleration they rub slightly only on one side because my fender liner sticks out and rubs on the tire . Plus my left rear is a lil lower then the right .If u use a 30 height for the rears I don't think it would be an issue . 42 offsets

I wonder if the front would rub if lowered? Also any reason why the 275/35/20 as the diameter of your set-up is like 1" off front to back with that?

Here are a couple of pics I took this AM. 25.5" fender to ground in front, 25.75" in the rear ( I'm going to go a little lower - probably 25.25" and 25.5"). I have no complaints on how it drives in any of the three modes - No Rubbing, rides good. Front's are 255/30/20 and rear's are 285/25/20.

Depends how much lower are you
with the fronts my tire is close to the bolt in sport 2 but won't touch it over bumps driving etc . U would prob need a 30 inch height up front to be on the safe side but then u would need to be extra careful when driving with a 30 profile on the road .I bought these wheels for 300 with these tires.so I didn't bother changing them yet . Plus I need the extra height for newyork roads .pot hole city . Any profile under 30 is looking for a bent rim etc.

I too also run 255/30/20 and rear 285/25/20...I also run CLS W219 fitment wheels so upon my next tire change out I'm downsizing to 275s in the rear. at the moment if I hit any large bumps at speed my tires rub my rear fenders pretty aggressively.

I run 245/35/20 front & 285/30/20 rear. They're a hair over the recommended 3% diameter (4%) range but I couldn't see myself riding on North Texas roads on a thin 25 sidewall. The sidewall height still looks great to me. Also, the 2mph variance didn't bother me....

Hair over 3%? That rear is 5.5%.
And 1.25"F / 1.4"R taller than stock is bleh. That's what was on my car when I bought it.

The stock tire size was 245/40/18. Overall diameter is 25.72".
The 285/30/20 overall diameter is 26.73". Difference is 3.95%.
245/35/20 is 26.75". 4.05%
Stock sidewall height is 3.86", sidewall height I'm running now is 3.38".
Doesn't look bleh to me. You must be confused with what you were running before. Either that or you like the stretched rubberband look...

My car had 245/35_20 and 275/30_20 on it from the previous owner. Not confused at all about what was on there. I just prefer not to give my car a lift when I change wheels and tires.

Stock rear was 265/35_18....
Sidewall height comparisons to stock don't matter much when you upsize. If you keep the same size tire, with a larger wheel, you end up looking like a donk, especially if you don't lower it over the larger wheel tire diameter. By running this larger size, you effectively lifted your car.

You're right, you've lifted the car a whole .5". I don't think .5" increase in ride height is anything near "Donk" or whatever the hell you're referring it to. You've closed the gap in the fenderwell by .5" as well so slamming it further seems counterintuitive, IMO.

How about that 5.5%?
What I meant was that trying to stay close to OEM sidewall height sizes, when you're upsizing, is the wrong way to go about the process. Overall diameter is what matters.
Running the larger sidewall also makes the 20s appear smaller, so why run them to begin with? Why not 19s with the correct size sidewall?

1. I like the look of the the larger wheel.
2. I debated between 19's & 20's and tire cost + selection was certainly a contributing factor. Tire Manufacturers don't offer many 19" tires.
3. I never upsize based on sidewall height. On my AMG I just went with a slightly bigger tire and liked the slightly bigger sidewall of the 30 vs the 25. The 3.95% difference was just a a hair over recommended spec.

Well...looks like I'm pulling the trigger to simply customize so I can stay with 19". That forged jump will hurt in the short run, but having a lighter/stronger wheel will be great. My 245/35/19 & 285/30/19 tires have like 2k miles on them so that does save from having to sell used for pennies on the dollar and buy new tires.
Being able to pick custom offsets does throw me off... I assume stick with the +32/+42 to run the same tires correct? Should be a fun project

You might want to re-read the thread. Brakefade and I both spoke about combined wheel & tire diameters.

I try to avoid 20" just for the particular reason, of rubbing and also not having enough sidewall to absorb bumps and the occasional pothole here and there. 19" is the perfect size for me, as my car is also lowered.
