.....if it were me I would pick up a used 7" tablet for about $20 and install Torque Pro on it and I promise you'll see trans temps....Carly is my favorite tool bar none but Torque Pro on Android platform will serve you best for THIS issue, Carly can handle everything else

Sure you can feel free to slurp your coffee Xtra hot but if you burn yourself, don't blame carly

Besides this little side effect, that you can seriously **** up your car by criss-crossing various Adapter brands with various apps you have another little problem, wich is:

you purchase an carly app for a few bucks, cheap out on the EXTRA for this carly application built adapter and wonder yourself why you haven't got a access to the majority of features.
Heck, some people ( imagine that ) come to forums and start *****ing around carly can't do this or that just because they wanted to save some bucks....
Kidding you not

Just so others do not get misled by this: I for one have the Carly app and the genuine Carly adaptor, but since I am running iOS (Apple), I do not get many of the cool features. Carly Tech Support told me this is unfortunately the case, as the iOS app differs from the Android app.

Hmmm, very strange ...all my features do work on mine. ( IOS )
I have to admit, I own the newest adapter generation Carly gen II, maybe you have an old carly adapter, that you can't update anymore?

I use obdlink on android.i tried them all and found this one with it's hardware is the best.the adapter it comes with is top notch and will scan car and codes in less then 2 seconds.

The cheap elm ones takes like a min and won't work with obdlink software.i can see timing and af ratio and will go check if it has transmission temp in a few

Torque pro has tranny temp

My Carly adaptor is only 2 months old. because the built-in capabilities are so good, you don't even realize what youy "are missing" until you see the features of the Android adaptor. THEN you see what you are missing!

You get GREAT diagnostics with the iOS version, compared to many other apps and adaptors. What you are missing is much of the on the road "live reporting" available on the Android version.

E550 4 Matic and E350 2011
Carly Adapter

Hi guys, not much information or Youtubes on how to code the Mercedes Benz. Just received my Carly adapter for the Benz and i'm completely lost as I don't know where to go. I have an E550 4Matic and an E350. Both are 2011 with the AMG package so I didn't understand what alpha numeric to choose for both these cars such as W212 or W202, etc. Any help can be given is much appreciated. While i think they are a super company for making these Adapters there response time for inquires are poor. I'm not here to bash anyone but just to simply get some help :-).

Coding my X5 was much more simple but got one error message which I have connecetd to them with and they have not responded....abit sad!!

Help guys :-))

Couple questions.. I have the newer gen 2 adapter for my c63 and the pro edition software / unlimited selections. , when I run diagnostics, I don't get a window for clear codes?
Second, I am trying to set up the live monitoring screen with various parameters.. A lot of the choices appear to be in German and Im having a bit of trouble translating them to figure out which ones/what parameters to pick for my display...
and advice?

when the scan finishes you should have to press OK...then you should get a screen that tells you the number of faults...at the bottom press SHOW FAULTS....once it changes pages you can select individual faults or group them by system or select all and clear faults.....

as for the German i have no idea, mine has always been in english

push is not available for our cars....it is a function that can fwd text messages and other info directly into your cluster display(center of speedometer)....

Mid City Engineering broke into the factory interface as they have a module for Escort/Passport 9500ci and up radar units to display to the cluster but it is VERY secure and protected. Carly has been working on breaking the W204 code for a while but it is no joke.

Can carly app reprogram my led headlight Module?

Also there are lots, LOTS of ecms that torque will neither display nor allow you to clear....Carly does
Can this app also reprogram my led headlight Module?

Pretty sure no. Maybe try the "engineering menu". I'm still on the hunt for shift speed for the transmission.

By the way, my recent experience with this app has been horrible. My car went to 'limp mode' again, wanted to doublecheck the code, and noticed I didn't have the full version since upgrading my phone / app. Carly 'responds' to each email, but half the time with sarcasm and never with any solutions. They want another $50 out of me, they are now telling me to buy it again. Goes back to my opinion on their special adapter....its basic binary codes from a obd2 terminal (dating to 1996). they just keep trying to milk people for $. just like your average MB dealer.

I empathize with your frustration, esp when a product isn't meeting your expectations.
Myself and other forum members, however, have had the exact opposite experience w the Carly platform. They are a primarily German speaking company, and i believe some of their perceived "sarcastic" replies are lost in translation.

Best results are achieved by mating the Carly app (Android, for me) with their bespoke OBD BT dongle. ~$82 all in, and you get Diagnostics equivalent to the MB Dealership. For example, I replaced all of my Camshafts, and installed SLS Black Series Lifters. I did not do the Camshaft "teach in" process that optimizes their position & timing, and subsequently threw a few codes picked up with full description as shown by Carly app below. The second photo shows the codes pulled by the MB Dealership - EXACTLY the same codes and descriptions as Carly. For less than $100, don't think there's anything else out there that can match its diagnostic capability. And even at much higher price points.
In addition, I've cleared SRS/Airbag lights with ease.
Good luck!

Absolutely not....I have been using Carly for several years now and have ALWAYS used the $6 ELM327 unit from Amazon/eBay and it has worked perfectly....as best as I understand the reason you want their adapter is for the PUSH feature where you can have your texts displayed in the center screen of the speedo, which is NOT an available function for the w204 in any year. And as far as other makes go if you want tbe same level of OEM access to the modules then yes, you would need to purchase their bespoke software but typically I just use Torque Pro for other vehicles. Your total investment for Carly should be no more than about $58 out the door

will the paid software work with my cheapo elm Bluetooth device to clear my permanent transmission code? if so then I wouldn't mind purchasing their software.
