Dash cams!!! Which do you use?
Hi all!
Just picked up a new c63s coupe edition 1 in Australia and wanted to see what dash cams people around the world used?
I want to get one asap... already had some doorknob think it was ok to try and peel the yellow decals off my rear boot lid!!!! Was soooo livid... didn't even last 1 week....
Anyway... have to get this dash cam sorted so please tell!!
Cheers
Peter

Sorry to hear that, I have been through similar.
As Auditoamg says, the Blackvue 650s is what I have landed on and is installed by my dealer (via a 3rd party). It will video people messing with the car front and back, not sure what you do with the footage though, ever made a complaint to the Police?....

I've fitted a Thinkware F770 front and rear camera.
WiFi's to smart phone for recording play back and has all the usual features, constant recording, incident recording, motion sensor parking recording, g sensor, speed, traffic and speed and red light camera alerts etc.
Works awesome but talks to much sometimes.

F770 here as well. Only one with a 1080p rear camera, and the Blackvue distorts the image too much so that in SOME instances you can't see text legibly (?sic). The images on the Blackvue do look prettier because of the high contrast and saturation, but not necessarily better for dash cam... It's like an Instagram filter haha. But it does look cooler, if that's what you're going for.

Much more common in other countries... probably less useful in the US. Only need to be keyed, hit 'n run, or have an @$$ hole completely lie to the police/insurance once to find the value. I've unfortunately seen all three. Understandably not for everyone though.

Someone was able to use both (power the dashcam via the Cellink B, and when it drains, it switches to powering from the car's battery). I don't recall how/when it recharges the Cellink at that point, but that wouldn't be a problem for me as my cars typically remain on a trickle charger when not in use. As for the exact way he used both, I couldn't find the writeup...
Lastly, a cool feature about the Blackvue is that it allows you to link several cameras together (they don't have to all be 650S). For example, you can use the 2C 650S for front and interior viewing, then use a lower quality cam for a rearview, and say another as a front bumper/lip camera. Some examples:

Think ware looks like a good choice. It's quite big though. Can someone please post pics of it installed? I'd like to see if there are any issues with blocked vision, clash with any radars/cameras the car uses just behind the rear view mirror... thanks!

Good choice. I did tons of research on it and for me it works great. It's actually thinner than the Blackvue, though it's longer... I'll tell you, I can't even see the device when I'm driving, you won't have a problem with it size-wise. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow morning if I remember before I head out to work.

Rear camera is directly connected to the front camera through the trim.
Trunk view - one wire goes into fuse box, one goes to the front camera via trim routes.
View of camera from passenger side

I got the integrated one from AerowerkZ. Replaces a trim piece around the rearview mirror (front only, obviously. I REALLY don't like to see wires and other clearly aftermarket stuff, so for me the integrated one makes sense. I can put it back to stock in five minutes, and the quality is decent.

Blackvue is the way to go. I have it/had it on all my cars. I seriously think having a dash cam is going to be a "must" thing in the future for every driver--enthusiast or not. Give EVS Motors a call to check on prices. Last time I bought mine, they had the cheapest I could find.
