I used the hardware it looked like it was decent quality and identical to the oem. It was actually really helpful to use the old guide pins to line everything up so the new pins would just slide right in.

Concerming the oil changes
i believe the thread in question was a new member asking about purchasing this car but wondering if the up keep costs were expensive. I think some members were stating paying $300-400 or some outrageous figure for an oil change.
I have over 10 dealers at my disposal and many have coupons on website for 15-25 percent off oil change and a ton of other specials. Never paid more than $100.
Usually the local dealer is $120 OTD and 20 percent off coupon is like $96. Walmart has 10Q of the oil for $40 the filter is $10 and my mechanic charge $15 to do it. Worst case no dealer it's $65.

Can you let me know when Walmart has that amazing sale? I'll grab some so I can save money that I can use toward rip off brake pads.

I'm 31, not even close to middle age, and I only need Viagra when I'm with your GF.
Apparently the C63 crowd has become populated by so many Jersey Shore wannabes that being skeptical and exercising common sense makes you an old man.

No I think its your elitist, aristocratic, pompus *** attitude and your willingness to attack anyone and everyone you get the opportunity. a "grandpa" in general with your posts.
If you had common sense as you say you do you'd see how marketing and the AMG tax and the general Mercedes tax plays into pricing for this cars parts.
Perhaps this is your first nice car so you are afraid to use these kind of parts which is understandable. I'm 8 years younger than you but I've had all sorts of cars and I know all the tricks and gimmicks vendors and dealers
pull. Do some research you'll be surprised at what
you'll see.
Or don't and spend more either way the forum is to educate and provide new products and solutions. Not to fear monger and that's my point.

In this case, these "performance" brake pads are cheaper than the tried and true performance brake pads I have run on any other vehicle I have owned, from a Mitsubishi Lancer to a Subaru STI, to a ****ing Miata. That begs the question as to why they are so cheap.

I would put these up against Porterfied or Redstuff or any other non track ceramic pad you can buy. It doesn't have to cost a fortune for it to be effective. Quite honestly most of the pads that I have used throughout my life have been autozone cheapest you could buy and I've never had an issue. These pads are as good if not better than Mercedes OEM just without the dust.

This was an informative article, thanks for posting, Jason.
It really communicates the urgency of Caveat Emptor to those considering cheaper pads, especially in light of the following from the article:
"There are no federal safety standards for aftermarket brake linings.
With zero regulations, aftermarket brake suppliers have to police themselves and each other to assure their products are safe. No brake supplier in their right mind would sell brake linings they know are not capable of providing adequate stopping power under normal driving conditions. Even so, what is adequate is subject to interpretation, and some suppliers take a more liberal view of the bottom line requirements than others.
If you want to maintain like-new brake performance, you should be installing application-engineered or premium brake linings that have been tested and certified to meet standards similar to FMVSS 105, 135 and maybe 126."

"FMVSS 135 says all vehicles under 10,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight (GVW), except motorcycles, must be capable of stopping within a distance of no more than 230 feet (70 meters) from 62 mph (100 km/h) with cold brakes".
230 feet???? A C63 on factory brakes will probably stop in half that distance. So the "OEM" performance requirement is worthless, and aftermarket parts don't have any requirement at all.
Brakes and tires are what separate the dead from the living. Regardless of whether we're talking about my AMG or my daughter's little Honda, I'm getting the best that I can find. The difference in price may hurt but it's something I can live with - any maybe can't live without.

I think what some here were trying to communicate is that you don't have to lose your shirt for good quality pads. And I agree, I put stoptech street performance pads on my street only vehicle.
However, $50 for a set of front pads is either taking a loss or cutting costs somewhere.

C63 AMG, P30
A low dust, high stopping power, great feeling pad is not the most cost efficient thing to come by, but if you're willing to pay a premium for such a pad, Endless is the way to go.
The other key part of the link Jason shared is this about the spec for brakes on new cars:
"FMVSS 135 says all vehicles under 10,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight (GVW), except motorcycles, must be capable of stopping within a distance of no more than 230 feet (70 meters) from 62 mph (100 km/h) with cold brakes".
