Hi guys and gals, I'm planning my next upgrade and I need help. My car currently has the Alpine tape deck and 6 disc changer common in most 1999 w202s. I want to upgrade to an in dash cd player that will work with my changer. My assumption is I could get a Becker or Becker/Alpine unit and that will do the trick. Here's the tricky part, I don't know of a Becker resource besides Becker Autosound in NJ, USA. They mostly deal in refurbishing stuff sold here so if something was available across either pond, they don't have info.
I started looking for the Becker 4716 Audio 30 APS based on what I skimmed here but I'm not sure how that will work for me. Long story short, what other Becker head units should I look for? Thanks in advance 😀
Are you totally opposed to a contemporary head unit? I just finished my door speakers, tweeters & rear subwoofer-wow what a difference in clarity & depth. I do not miss the 6 disk CD changer whatsoever. It has a single CD, but I strictly stick to streaming+ the added bluetooth for the phone is excellent if it's a DD. I was all about having the stock appearance radio...until I got bored & installed a head unit I had sitting. The wonderful sound quality & modern features+ ease of aftermarket speaker/sub integration trumps all the "negatives" of having a modern head unit imo.
Alright, the door speakers are Rainbow Germanium CS265.25 component set including the silk dome CAL25 tweeters powered by a Rockford Fosgate P300x2. The rear passenger doors & the rear deck are still the factory Bose equipment. For bass, I have a JL 13TW5V2 @ 2 ohm powered by a Kicker DX1000.1. The head unit is a Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS.
I tidied up a bit & ran the bass knob into the headlight switch area, dual USB (power & music) in the cubby, & techflexed some of the wiring. Still able to access the spare tire area easily. Right now it's in the JL prefab box, but there is more room & a custom box might be next. Tweeter location is still up in the air, but they sound so damn good that I don't feel like moving them or hiding them.
Becker wanted $300 plus shipping for the same exact unit. I had someone recommend this website and said it will just take a while to get here. I like the look and will hopefully see it here in a few weeks.

That unit looks really nice. I may go a step up and order the one with the in dash CD player that they have available. I saw a couple pics of it installed in a w210 and it doesn't look too bad. A bit more chrome than I prefer but a great option nonetheless. Thanks!
