Sound experience
Just got my EQS back from the dealer for the last (for now) software recall and steering wheel replacement for non-functional heated steering wheel. All of that works wonderfully now and I got to experience the EQE 350+ SUV as a loaner. I have to say that folks are right, it does feel very similar to our EQS vehicles so perhaps the EQS is in many ways more similar to the E- or CLS-class ICE vehicles than an S-class. You can tell that the wheelbase is shorter and the ride isn't quite as compliant. The Burmester system in the EQE is good but not quite as good as that in the EQS, probably secondary to vehicle design and acoustic properties. The head unit is the same but the software version is either different or updated as I have a 2022 and this was a new 2023. Under sound experience the EQE had an option for exterior sound experience and my EQS 450+ does not. As cheesy as it may sound, I kind of liked the spaceship sound effects that were audible when locking/unlocking, or just sitting. Very Millennium Falcon.
Is there a way to get the same exterior sound effects for our EQSs? Do we have the hardware for whatever speakers are emitting the sounds? Maybe it is included in the 2023/34 models and just not the 2022? I have the latest software version so I don't think it is an update.

I've got the most expensive EQE you can buy and subwoofer is so wimpy it literally just tickles my feet when maxed out. My GV80 had strategically located subwoofers under the driver and passenger seats that you could feel throughout your whole body without a huge thumper in the trunk that'll disturb the whole neighborhood. Anywho, rest of frequency range sound really clean with no distortion even at higher volume levels. Just the really low frequencies that suck. IMVHO

2023 AMG EQS
Sound experience is available for 2yrs for 2023+ EQS’s.
I got it when I traded in my ‘22 for a ‘23 and I also enjoy it.
I forgot how much it will cost when the trial period is over but it’s a shame that MB is going to nickel and dime us after paying so much for their vehicles.

2022 Mercedes EQS 580
I have sound effects when locking and unlocking my 2022 EQS 580. It is linked to the sound mode for driving. So if you drive without electric sound, then you won't have it on the outside either.

Of note, my 2022 only has silver & vivid sound experiences, not the roaring one. Seems to be another 2023 “perk.” Obviously not a big deal but interesting to me what software updates become available for different model years.

So this is an example of a minor software update - separating exterior sounds from interior sound as separate menu choices so you can have exterior without interior. I'm dumbfounded that Mercedes chose to keep this exclusive to the 2023 and not update this feature to the 2022. This is the sort of thing which to me is a disincentive to paying the new car premium. Because keeping the software up to date preserves resale value, and doing what Mercedes does tends to cause more depreciation. It's not surprising that our 2022 resale values are in the toilet. 2023 owners - you are about to experience this.

This is why I didn't mind leasing my EQS and the 7500$ federal help covering the extra cost of the lease compared to purchasing, I can let Mercedes eat the cost if car depreciated a lot. If by some chance used car values are high again, I can easily purchase the car and trade it in.

That's true for most European luxury brands I think especially as you get to more expensive trims, which is reflected in lease residuals as well. My Audi Q7 lost ~60% of its value in 4 years while our Mazda CX5 only lost ~25%.

That said, agree that sometimes fully loaded doesn't really mean you will get all the value of options back, sometimes you get half or even less than that. For some reason people don't sought out for fully loaded cars as much (what I see in Canada at least)

Someone mentioned there are exterior sounds on a 2022... are we positive this is only a 2023+ option ? I only have the "Inside sound Experience" button option in my 2022 EQS580... However the 2022 manual (page 204) mentions the car should have "Selected sounds" when connecting and disconnecting the charging cable.. mine does not do that either... wondering if it is a malfunction, I am on MBUX 330
