damaged rim at dlr

I bought my car in for a B service, even though i had already changed my oil , and already rotated my tires... but i bought it to them for the other things...anyway i got my car back with a scratch on my rim...looks like clear coat was damaged and will peel off with little effort...im sure one of the shop pple dropped a tool on the rim, anyway after a little argueing they said they will change the rim for me....but its just a hassle, is it really beneficial to get the car serviced for their A and B service? or is it a draw back? in my case seems to have been a draw back? anyone with similar experiences? id like to hear of them.

I do not like to take my cars in for any service and will do everything myself unless it's covered by warranty or I do not have the tools (and they are too expensive to buy for a possible one time use). It's not the money, I can afford it. I don't want to offend any mechanics out there but I find that most mechanics are not as careful as I am with my cars. Parts/guards/fasteners are not replaced. I clean and tighten everything I come across. I don't scratch things up taking them apart. But I will take my C in to have the memory dumped for errors/malfunctions...just not to the dealer.

You mentioned about having your memory dumped? The is the first time I've heard of such a thing and are quite curious. Can you elaborate on this. Isn't having the computer learning various things beneficial?

Memory dump....

"Isn't having the computer learning various things beneficial?"

Yes...that's what I am referring to. A 'memory dump' is computer slang for reading what error codes have been stored in the memory. I'm thinking about getting an OBDII (On Board Diagnostics) cable and software to do it myself. All cars since 1996 have this connection under the dash to the left of the steering column.
