C63 Timing Issue
Took my car for diagnosis at a Mercedes workshop (non dealer) noticed engine timing out 1ms left bank. Suggested I need a new timing chain. Anyone else a stretched timing chain on the m156 motor. Also is it a serious issue?

If it is your timing chain, and not just an adjustment to be made, prepare to stock up on lube. That's an engine out job and not cheap. Sorry.

There is only one timing chain, how would only one side be out? Put the engine to 40degrees and see if the cams are where they are supposed to be, along with the adjuster plates.

just curious how something that is timed in degrees can be a 1 MS out? millisecond? lol. I guess they thought they'd give you a measurement in time to seem like the timing was out. Probably another camshaft timing job messed up on the easiest mercedes engine to time.

Managed to get this issue fixed was a absolutely ballache and destroyed my pockets tbh I think because not many people had the car with more than 70,000 miles not many people have experienced certain faults with the car anyhow long story short the car had to have cameras put into the head of the engine which showed a piston melted so had to get the whole engine out and opened which showed that the piston rings on piston 1 and 2 were clogged up ended up having to get a whole rebuild at this stage with new piston rings they then realised that the camshaft adjusters on the intake side were both not locking also so both of these had to be replaced also as on the w205 the rebuild kit like the previous gen isn’t available! This ended up sorting all the issues out for it ended up costing over 15,000£ 🤯🤯
