Speed43 Air Box

Hey guys, I just finished modifying a C55 AMG air box. Here's a video clip of it. I lifted the air box by one inch at the front where it goes to the maf. Than feather the lift to the sides and back.

I also cut the underside of the box to gut out all the fins and tours/pillars that restrict air flow. Than sand it out and weld everything back. I do more but that's the gist of it.

I also sell what I call the FFE Fast Flowing Elbow. I get rid of the big fins that also restrict air flow to the throttle body. Smooth it all out than I paint it. When you receive this piece it will look brand new. And will give the engine better throttle response.

This is the Air Box I was talking about sending you. Why did you lift it at the MAF?

For more air volume. Engine will breathe and perform better. If you want it done email me geo3617(@)gmail.com

Just want to say thanks to the ones that have emailed. I have responded and will start making the air boxes. To make things simple please provide a address with zip code so I can contact FedEx for shipping price. I cannot give you a price just with country. It just don't work that way. I need a complete address. Even if it's a address. 4-8 blocks away from your home.

And if if you can't send your AMG air box I will send a non AMG box which I will buy to mod. Same difference but with no AMG logo on top of the air box. Performance will be there. And will also come with the modded elbow for better air flow.

thanks for reading.

If the inlets and TB are left the same size, what use is a freer flowing middle section?

The opening of the throttle body is good. But the air box is very restricted. Make it better Flowing and the throttle body will take advantage of that.

Forgot to mention about the elbow which I think you calling it the middle section. It has fins so removing that causes air to flow faster to the throttle body. Think of water trying to rush into the throttle body. It will get slowed down. Remove the fins and water will RUSH in to the TB.

I've never understood why they put all the fins there in the first place!

It's because they want smooth, consistent, non-turbulent airflow for the mass airflow sensor. On that elbow the channels keep the air flowing informally around the 90 degree bend instead of rushing the inside edge. This will affect the airflow going across the mass air wire.

But the airflow sensor is in front of the elbow?

Or, think of the entire intake as a big straw. If each end is left at its original size, just what good can come from "more flow" in the middle? The answer is none.

Bigger straw=more airflow, thats a guarantee especially when theres sort of a vacuum effect

Ok.
Now you think of a straw with the same size openings on each end. Now add two plastic curvy fins in the middle of the straw. Now take another straw with no fins in the middle. Put each straw in a soda can and time yourself sucking in each soda till it's all gone. Which straw will let the soda in faster to your mouth? Get it now?

Modded air box with the modded elbow will make for better flow. You will never know till you actually have the two on your car. Since you don't all you can and are doing is trying to make some sense and trying to convince me that I'm wrong. I don't mod anything that won't produce flow and performance. Let alone sell it to guys in these forums that have helped me fix my car many times.

Im not a company trying to sell snake oil.
I'm ONE guy sharing my ideas that I have tried and tested and that I was happy with. But I have to charge, can't share my time and work for free.

For those that could see that these parts where design for less air noise and probably emissions but NOT performance, contact me if performance is what you want.

A truly bigger straw is bigger at each end too.

With no back to back dynos, I see no proof of any gains. Butt-dynos don't count at all because every car is faster just after a wash, let alone shelling out hundreds on modded OEM parts.

What kind of soap are you using? I like to buy some so my car can run even faster after a wash. Seriously though, even if I give you dyno after dyno you still won't buy anyhthing. I've been there and done that with guys saying prove with a dyno and I will buy! Than a member did a dyno on my c43 air box and got 10HP/10TQ just like the renntech air box. Guess what happened? All those that wanted a dyno dyno dyno just went away with their tail between their legs.

Those that trusted me when I said the box made at least 10HP were the ones that purchased. Yeah, your butt is not dialed in right man. Mine is quite good, I got it right in the money with the 10HP that I felt!

Dyno results for a renntech. This proves the theory is correct

I like how a member talked about cutting the "fins" out of the air box, just like speed is doing.

Still available?

Hey there, sorry for reviving an old thread but are you still offering this mod? I just had my C55 decatted (all 4) with Kleemann midlength headers installed, then ECU tuned by Eurocharged. The car still just doesn't feel fast enough so I was looking into air intake and maybe further exhaust modification such as x pipe or whatnot. I came across this thread and was instantly interested. The work looks beautiful and if it nets more hp I am all for it. The Renntech box is over 2k and not justifiable.
