Leaking fluid in engine bay

I notice a small leak in my engine bay..the water spots are located on the left side heat shield. Not sure what it is..but its not green in color. Like radiator fluid. What can this be? I wiped it clean but notice the water comes back..its like dried up water.. Could it be rain water splashing into my engine from underneath? It has been raining...

Its not leaking a puddle, but more like splashing onto the heat shield.

You've only got "x" number of options. Oil is tan to black, transmission & power steering will be red to black, brake fluid is clear to black, and anything cooling related is orange. A shock could be leaking and usually that fluid is black.

If it's clear and not slippery in viscosity the best bet is water. If it's water the options are A/C condensation (very normal that this occurs) or coolant fluid (but it would be tinged orange). For piece of mind, the next time you drive your car home, turn-off the A/C for at least 15 minutes prior to parking the car. If the puddle is gone then you can put your mind at ease.

Good luck!
Eric
