Dechrome\remove Coupe Window trim

Hi all,

I am wanting to black out the window trim on my coupe, but I'm failing at the first hurdle... I'm not sure how to remove the trim! I found a guide how to remove the trim on the W204, but it is very different compared to the coupe because of the fixed rear passenger windows.

Does anyone know how I go about removing this?

Thanks
Kevin

I thought most people used some type of vinyl tape and cover the chrome.

But it's a good question, and something I've considered.

Are you trying to paint your trim or to wrap it?

I looked at doing this as well and was told you could buy the trim as it was optioned as "Highgloss black Beltline trim Strip"
Cannot find any parts on fleabay

I guess you could try this stuff. It basically goes over it, but I'm not sure how clean it would look.

Have you tried using a plastic pry tool to remove the rear glass trim?

I just looked at my car at lunch, and I believe the trim pieces will come off just like the sedan version.

It was nice today, so when I got home, I pulled the trim off the driver's side and plasti-dipped it. I messed up a couple tiny spots, but I'll tape off the area and touch it up later.

Tomorrow or Wednesday, I'll do the passenger side.

Wow thanks for all the replies! I set up an alert for this thread but never received any, I assumed no one replied.

So you were able to just pull the trim off the car easy enough? I didn't attempt, I thought the rear window was hindering it! Will give it a shot myself.

Thanks

Yes, it's pretty straight forward if you start at the door jam, and work towards the back of the car. Just take your time, and use plastic pry tools.
