I had a problem with glove box before for it wasn't opening I was able to get it open by messing around with the actuator inside the compartment (in the back) and now I broke the striker
the striker fell inside the door of the glove box
the door doesn't shut for the obvious reason
any idea what to do now?
I wanna be able to keep it closed

This is the small part that is attached to the glove box lid, not the dash, correct? That part is not available separately. My advice is to remove the glove compartment and see if you can get into the lid to fix it, maybe using epoxy. Otherwise, you need a whole new glove box:

I also saw a used one on e-bay for $55. I did repair mine, but would not recommend it. Not worth saved $60. You'll have to remove the entire glove box in order to replace the striker. It is not difficult, but make sure that you locate all four screws. One on the right side wall, one in the top left corner, one about two inches right of that one inside the box on the top panel and a forth one just right of the striker also in the top panel. I thougth there are only two screws, so had some gluing to do afterwards.

That part is what is inside the glove compartment - not the lid. My understanding is that the OP broke the "loop" inside the lid.

Then it is not a striker. If you are correct it should be an easy fix - just attach something round (like a wire or a screw) to the lid and move the latch as far back as possible. It should work.

I did manage to hold it but inserting a small spring pin between where the rack of the door and the pinion of the glove box if this makes any sense, so that's holding it for the time being.

I really wish I had left it the way it is honestly but speaking of pinion

I guess I'm still confused as to what part is broken on yours. Is it the mechanized latch that stay in the dash when you open the lid, or is it the small strike that stays in the lid? If it's the latch that's in the dash, that part can be replaced as an individual part. If it's the small strike in the lid, that cannot be purchased without the entire lid.

That's the "latch" which part that stays in the dash when you open the glove box. it is individually replaceable. You stated, "and now I broke the striker the striker fell inside the door of the glove box." The "striker" it just the stationary hook or bar attached to the glove box lid that connects with that latch. The latch grabs the striker and holds it. Maybe you can take a photo of what is broken?

Rodeney, official Benz name for the latch is "striker". Check the link in one of my posts above on Benz dealer part.

Yeah, I think that's just German translation issue. When you talk generically about closure systems, the striker is the static part, usually a bar or loop. The latch is the part that articulates and grabs or traps the striker. Anyhow, if your's is the part that, the latch, is attached to the dash and not the lid, then you can buy that part separately.

OK, here's the part I have been referring to using your photo:




The LATCH is a part that you can buy individually. The STRIKER is an integral part of the glove box lid that cannot be bought as a separate part. Now, you might be able to do an "unofficial" repair on the STRIKER by removing the entire glove box and taking the lid apart. Personally, I think that's what I'd do. Honestly, you don't have much to lose - if you screw it up, your' still looking at replacing the whole thing, which is the "official" repair anyhow

I might try something innovative using small magnets. Might work. Might not.

Cut small grooves above and below the center of the opening in the cover. Put small rod in the grooves (across the opening) and glue it with epoxy. Place small pieces of glass fiber cloth on top for extra strength. Should do it.

I'll give that a shot too. right now the spring pin is holding it up or closed
