AMR TUNED!!! 12.2@118mph 1/4 mile,, Fastest C450 AMG? LOL

Hello Folks,,

As promised This weekend I took both of my cars (Jag 5.0 and C450) to the dragstrip again and gave it another run. I drove the Merc and had a frined drive the Jag. If you haven't seen my previous thread find it here,,

https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-...50amg-lol.html

I Went a little faster this time at 117.83mph vs 116 last time but still 12.22 vs 12.26 last time. Again This is an 11 second car if it would launch right. I saw a car that went 11.92 @ 116 mph (2016 Shelby GT350) but the driver literally banged off the rev limiter and dumped the clutch so he got waay better launch.

Anyhow enjoy the vid

2017 C43 Coupe
Stock tires? Not bad. 11s might be difficult but with something like Michelin PS4S and a good launch I wouldn't bet against it. The lack of launch control really makes it difficult, I know I can't launch my coupe well at all.

Does anyone know how much the stock wheels weigh (18s or 19s)? Maybe a lighter set of wheels for less rotational inertia would be helpful too.

I'm running stock 18'' wheels and stock size tires. I am on Continental All seasons but tires do not have anything to do with the times at all. The car does not spin and I get off the line ok.

Problem is in Launching it. Even with brake boosting it does not launch half as hard as it supposed to be, or at least to its competitors from BMW and AUDI

Fastest C450/C43 I have seen so far Went 12.44 @ 112.93 (The one AMR posted about) and I went 12.22 @117.8 and that one was at sea level in florida

There is 5 mph trap speed difference!!!! yet we are getting very very close times for 1/4 mile.

We are at a bit of altitude near the WV and the mountains lol so that does not help unfortunately.

Until next week and another attempt....

Great numbers your car is making around 470hp (+/-20) and the trap speed is good for 11.8 with 1.8-60'

Amazing, what are your mods? I saw AMR tune with catless downpipes, but does that mean you are running the stock catback exhaust?

stock 18 inch wheels on pirelli run flats weigh in at 50.2 pounds front and 52 lbs rear. a lighter tire setup could help slightly i would think. i will let you know as i will have 2 sets to test against

nice times. im excited to tune my car.

Your 60' time is not good.I have a unmodified C450 with the stock runflats and can cut 1,90 60' times consistently.Have you tried making runs in the "Dyno" mode?I have heard that all traction controls are turned off in this mode. Also I wonder if the downpipes are killing some of the low end torque. If you can get your 60' time to 1.85 you will be in the 11's

Nope didn't run it in Dyno mode. Just did S+ and turned traction control off (Although it would've not mattered if it was on).

It does matter if you don't turn "traction control" off.Even though you don't detect any wheelspin the control system will cut power & torque at the slightest hint of wheelspin. You may not feel it but the system can sense it.That is why I think using the "Dyno" mode will help.In the dyno mode all traction controls are turned off.

I don't think that is true, maybe when you turn traction control off but definitely I think Dyno mode won't do any difference than traction control off.
Will try it anyway next week when I go back... Determined to break this car into the 11s

Your C43 Has much better gearing than the 7 speed in the C450... Non the less amazing for a piggy back. How do you launch your car?

Yeah man, 2.0 60' times are garbage. But launching these fat pigs with so many electronic hindrances don't allow for anything great. We really gotta get AMR/OE to do something about this. I'm not sure if it's possible to give us full blown launch control (I doubt it) but if we could just get another 1,000rpm's for a brake-boost, it would be a significant help.

Not much to launching this car. You should be maxing out the brake pedal then maxing out the gas pedal (revs cut out @ 2,000rpm) then releasing the brake, correct?

I really wish that my track wasn't at 5,000ft so I could get in on this action!

Soooooooo damn frustrating (especially for you, I'm sure) cause if you could get just a slightly better punch out of the hole, you'd be in the 11's easily. If you could cut a 1.6 60', you'd maybe hit 11.5. But that's completely unrealistic unless big software tweaks are developed like I said in my last post lol.

Oh yeah, and can someone explain to me this "Dyno mode"? I've never heard of this before.

Dyno Mode should be used during dyno testing. It turns off all electronic nannies so the the wheels are not affected while on the rollers. The "traction control" button doesn't completely disable all controls. If you don't use the Dyno mode while dyno testing you can get erroneous readings due to nannies lowering torque if the wheels spin on the rollers.
I don't remember the exact procedure to enable the Dyno mode but if you search this forum you will find several threads on how to enable it.I think this mode may help the 60' time.It at least worth a try.

working as a drivetrain supplier to Daimler i can tell you that you wont even notice the wheels slipping due to the computers and sensors milli second response rate. thats why the traction control systems now a days are so good. if you are on ice, yes you will notice some slipping since the car is trying to get any and all traction. but on pavement where you are mostly not slipping it will cut it just enough to keep you from slipping at all. if you have the c43 you can completely disable traction control by holding down the button. if you have the c450 you can enable dyno mode through the steering wheel and gauge cluster. i think it was holding the phone hang up or accept button and ok button for 10 seconds and will unlock the secret menu.

this will help your times as long as your hooking up on good rubber.

lighter wheels and tires should in theory help as well.

Wow those are impressive numbers, is that just with a tune? No downpipes or cat back exhaust, air filter etc...

If you scroll up he states he has catless downpipes and a tune. Nice job Sam, AMR ftw!
