Secondary air injection pump failure

Hello all, my SAI pump failed on me a couple months ago (M272). Pretty easy fix but wondering what is the better replacement to prevent future failure, as this is a common failure. OEM or Aftemarket? Is there an updated OEM part for this? How many miles before you had to replace the original one? Is a delete of the SAI system possible? Thanks in advance

What year and mileage is your car?
The OE Bosch replacement is about $130 and takes about 20min to change and I'd expect it to last about 10yrs. I just replaced one last week . Hadn't failed but was a little noisy. Original lasted 10yrs and 85k miles.

2011 with 99K. I'll probably go with the OE Bocsh replacement then. I knew mine had failed because it was noisy for a week or so then completely went out. I ran codes and that's what it was for. Thanks for the input!

You bet. Have a magnetic retriever tool handy...the lower left bolt can be tricky to keep hold of. Overall , quick and easy job. Ended up ordering through Pelican since I was ordering some other parts my other car. Decent price, quick delivery.

Unhappy Secondary Air Pump Failed

A very loud squeal for maybe two minutes on cold start so we took it in to have it diagnosed and repaired. I wish I had searched the forum before I let Mercedes get hold of ours! $1,976.00. Watching a couple YouTube videos it doesn't seem to be that difficult to replace although the ones I did watch didn't address the two valves Mercedes replaced which they said if not replaced the pump would just fail again. Their charge for the pump alone was $900.00! It is a 2011 C300 with 39k miles on it.

The valves themselves are expensive. I would only replace if they are faulty, i guess theres some type of flap in them. Ive seen threads where the valves were fine and they seem to say the issue was built up carbon in the head that they had to chip away and remove.

Question Secondary Air Pump warranty extension?

I saw somewhere that Mercedes extended the warranty on the secondary air pump as so many of them were failing even at relatively low mileage. Anyone here know where I can find that information?

I havent come across that information before, though if you have a PZEV spec there is a 15yr/150,000 mile warranty on emission's parts in certain states. My 2010 W204 has it, information is in the Service and Warranty Information booklet that came with the Operators Manual. Unfortunately mine went over 150,000 miles already so its useless.
