Rear headrest stuck backwards

Auto cleaner put one of the rear headrests in backwards (GLA 2021 Base). We couldn't get the headrest out, despite all the force we applied together and Mercedes service is asking to do it for 880 Dollars!

Is there a way to yank that out without tearing the seat apart? I'm not seeing one.

Did you figure out how to fix this? I accidentally put mine on reverse to get it out of way of child seat and now it's stuck!

Forgot to update, I figured out a way to fix it. A thin but sturdy piece of plastic that can be shimmied down along the headrest post. I cut the bottom at an angle so it can slip by and push the locking bar out of the notch of the headrest post. At first I tried a long zip tie but that was too thick. I ended up cutting a long strip of a very durable outdoor plastic banner poster I had laying around from Kinko's FedEx (about half inch wide and maybe 10" long). I greased it with some Vaseline and shimmied it along the post.

Big apologies for not replying before. Life has been little bit crazy lately. I’m so glad you found a way, I will try too!

You will have to get on a laptop and search my posts. I have a video link posted somewhere else on the forums but I don't remember where.

Hey wildta! I searched through the 472 responses you have recorded on MBWorld but could not find any references to a video on how to remove the backwards headrest. Did you see the picture I posted in my response? Do you believe it would be possible to pull mine at the position it currently is?
I cut a piece of one of the "For Sale" sign to slide it through the opening in the seat backrest, but that really did not get me far.

If you have any additional tips while attempting to release your headrest, please be sure to update the thread to help others.
