Backward Headrest on GLE


3rd row seat head rest, I removed the headrest on 2024 GLE 4matic but made a mistake inserting it back the wrong way (backwards) and now I can’t get it out .. lol .. any tips to remove it

Thank you, I had the same idea but didn’t taper it .. gonna try it this morning and let you know how it went

It was a tight squeeze with my tapered "tool" so I had to grease it and the metal post a bit. It didn't just slide down with ease except the first inch so I had to hold it tight against the post and push it down with each tiny (tiny because the only play you have is the width of that notch on the post) push downward of the post. Then I'd keep the tool in place and pull the post up the width of the notch and repeat. Each movement was like 0.25 to 0.5 inches. My first attempt failed because my taper was too steep and not robust enough to push that paperclip latch out of the way. Looking down the post hole of another headrest and the notch on the opposite post pole, you should be able to develop a good idea and imagine exactly how to place the tapered tool to push that paperclip latch. it worked really well I was using a a/c ducting piece of aluminum tapered it like you mentioned .. working on it 30 mins tweaked it here and there and headrest came out easily.

Again thank you for the advice .. saved me a trip to the dealers

hey, i‘m having the same issues and i‘m trying to fix it with no luck so far.

what kind of material did you use for your tool? I tried it with a thin plastic tool that looked great but it‘s not sturdy enough and keeps bending as the fit is very thight.

can you explain what ac ducting piece is? Sorry english is not my native language.
any other tips maybe?

hey, i‘m having the same issue and trying to fix it currently.

can you post a better picture of your tool if you still have it and tell me what material you used exactly?
can‘t find anything that‘s sturdy enough but thin enough at the same time. It keeps bending while i‘m trying to insert it deeper and i‘m losing my mind. Been trying for like 2hours already

That would be perfect. I also thought of a cut-up piece of tape measure would work too.
