Pre paid Maintenance plans

Can you shop maintenance plans at different dealerships or are they the same price everywhere?
Can you purchase online?
Are they worth it or better to just pay as you go?

I recommended it. you save 30% compared to pay as you go and you can maintain your vehicle at any benz dealership.

I recently had a service A. an oil change and change of engine and cabin filter. something I can do myself for less than $100. they charge a lot for these services so you may as well pre-pay.

I just bought 2 year PPM from Allyson Finney at MB West Houston. This was at a significant discount from the price quoted by the local dealer.

1- I believe you can purchase from any M-B dealer. I recommend you contact Jeff Jackson @ M-B Louisville; he's been very helpful and responsive for me. If you can get a decent price from him, or another dealership, then it helps with the answer to question #2.

2- From reading this forum, the prices for service seem to vary widely, with some dealers charging much more than others for the same thing (e.g. Service A). Therefore, I suppose I would say "YES," if only for the peace of mind knowing you won't have to wonder if you're getting screwed along the way.

Good luck!

When I did my calculations, in MA, 4k/40 PPM plan from Jeff was 10-20% cheaper than current retail price of maintenance from dealers in the area. Having that said, my GLE has Magic Vision Control and the dealers do not include MVP wipers in their quoted prices. So, accounting for MVC wipers, it may end up being 25-30% cheaper, unless you go FCPEuro route for them w/ free replacements.

The best pricing that I’m getting is $1310 for 2 years and $1800 for 3, it seems to be less expensive to just pay as you go for me.

does MB allow you to service at a local foreign car shop without affecting the warranty ?

The fact is that a service 'A' is an oil change available for $200

‘We probably need an update to the A&B performed but my last ones included extra’s like windshield wipers and tire rotation that come to mind…depending on the Dealer they may vary from Mercedes. It’s a good idea to specify what you want done or ther might be a surprise if your Dealer has a “special” service list. I agree, the pay as you go is probably less expensive. If you sell the car you don’t get a refund for any unused and it might not pass on with the vehicle, a recent change…if I remember correctly.

Yes but it would be a good idea to document that the correct oil and filter were used. At some point the “A” multi point inspection has value as they measure brake pads, calipers, etc.

It "may" be transferred if you sell to a private party or it "might" be transferred if you sell to non-Mercedes dealer and somebody subsequently acquires it and contacts MBUSA. No transfers for MB dealers trade-ins. No refunds.

See the PDF attached. I removed page "1" as it had private info but all relevant info is there, including type of services you get etc.

Not an 'A' service.
You can probably get an oil change at most dealers for around $200. An 'A' service includes a more rigorous inspection with records that are accessible nationwide if you need help on the road.

If all you ever do is change oil but never cabin filters, spark plugs, transmission oil change, windshield wipers or inspections, by all means don't get prepaid maintenance.

Yes, you can keep your warranty intact by going to an independent, but it's a good idea to check with the Mercedes service manager about what proof of service is adequate for him to validate your warranty. Then make sure the independent provides it.

I don't know of an Indie in my area who has anywhere near close to the diagnostic equipment necessary for complex problems, or the ability to work directly with the factory for solutions. I'd like to have a history of dealer maintenance, should they be required.

PPM is a no-brainer if you compare the services covered, with individual costs. You also lock in current pricing in case service prices increase in the future.

A Service Advisor can help you with the math. It's the only way you can make a valid comparison, because it's based on your mileage, your anticipated mileage and time frame, and how many services would be covered in your case.
This forum can't really help with that.

I contacted Jeff and Allyson. They offered the same prices.
Have you contacted the local MB service department to see how much Service A and B they charge?
I did calculation and basically, they are identical to the PPM

Does your car have Magic Vision Control Wipers? Dealer rarely account for them when they tell you A/B service pricing.

I purchased the "Premier40K NPPMS-4YR" in 2020 from a local dealer for $2100. It will expire this year.

Can we purchase another PPM like this or is this offered to new vehicle purchases only?

My guess is no, you cannot purchase additional PPM, however check with your dealer as they could probably figure something out.
My contract for PPM says:
1.4. This Agreement may only be purchased prior to the occurrence of
10,000 total miles or the performance of the first factory-required service interval on the Vehicle, whichever occurs first.

Our GLE only has ~7,500 miles but has had 2 Service As and 1 Service B already. Overmaintained if you ask me.

I just had my first “A” service done on my 2023 GLE450 and decided to price the “B” service while there. I was shocked that they said about $1800.00!!! I then called a couple more local dealers & was really surprised that there was over $1000.00 difference, one dealer quoted $699.00. I was pricing the same service at all dealers ( the required maintenance for “B” service) which includes the oil & filter change, cabin filters, wiper blades, brake fluid change and other checks and fluid top offs.

Out of curiosity, why do you do it? To get the "break-in" oil out?

You have to change the oil at 10k miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Oil degrades over time even when not used.

Got it, so these were interval based services, it wasn't evident from your initial post.

You can purchase another prepaid maintenance plan. It's actually called something different. Instead of "Mercedes-Benz Premier Prepaid Maintenance" it is "Mercedes-Benz Star Prepaid Maintenance", but as far as I know, it is the same thing. Don't think you can get 4 years, but can get 2 or 3, up to like 80k miles.

I price check all the dealers now. I still go to my preferred one but I just ask them to price match. Just dropped off my vehicle for a 4matic alignment and cheapest dealer offer was $270, my preferred one was $360 and the other two dealers were $300. They pricematched for $270 no questions asked.

I also look at their monthly specials advertised on their service page.
