Engine swap curiosity

So iread the v8 wont fit in a c300 chassis which is fine they cost alot of money. But can I fit a c43 engine in a 2015 c300? I'd look into doing a trans swap as well and having someone do it, but I ask because I have a strong 4cyl engine but it does have 184000 on it, and although its well maintained Im sort of expecting it to go soon.

So my question is can I drop in a c43 amg engine into a c300 chassis? What sort of trouble could I expect and dollar cost for someone to do it?

It will not be a drop in because the 4cly is smaller then the 6v turbo engine. If you were to drop it in, you will need to do more and the cost will go up and up. It would be better to sell your car and get a C450/C43 car.

the only reason I ask is i owe quite a but on it, and it might be worth swapping if the engine goes bad. how much is different about it?

The engine mounts will be different for sure. Also the front end of the C450/C43 are redesigned by AMG so they have more control arms, bigger than on the C400 and a different rear end. You'd need to get the full under body of C450/C43 since the entire bottom of the car is different than a C300.

There are way too many differences to list here, but it's not just an engine swap like a 1970 Chevy. There are so many electronic elements that would need to be added/changed and how they would communicate with the existing systems, not sure how much a C300 tranny, driveshaft, etc. can handle. It's a massive basket of snakes that will absolutely cost you more to build this franken-mercedes that it would to just buy a C43.

I think it may be possible, but in the same sense that it may also be possible to launch yourself out of earth's atmosphere.

It's extremely complicated.

Yeh I had no idea each chassis was different. that adds to the value I suppose, but Ill just get a dinan tune, i dont want to blow the engine at 184. it sounds like I'm on a great streak here.

Yeah dude. I think it's a good idea and I'd like to see someone with a lot of time and money do it, lol.

But I really see this kind of project getting buried by the details and all the ancillary components. Such as the intercooler, radiator, tranny cooling and the unknowns like how the C43 is 4MATIC and if the C300 is 4MATIC, I would think the front differential would be different for wider/larger engine and then you get into things like the axles would probably need to be shorter, then would those axles work with C300 hubs? How much torque can C300 axles handle? Are the steering rack/front suspension components different on the V6 for clearance? Etc., etc., etc.. Seems like a nightmare to me, lol.

Yes, that's some impressive mileage you have and I hope it keeps going for you!
