buzzer/alarm sound when key is inserted or removed

started 2 days ago.
when i put the key into ignition without turning it gives rather loud and annoying ring from the dash. not a chime
like an old vw door open buzzer

everything seems to work. car starts every time no issues with steering lock no codes.
just loud buzzer (piezo) going off for about a second when key is inserted or removed.
all i could find online is videos about the steerign lock and no start which doesnt seem to be what i have

Could this be the ESL lock going bad?

its the chime when key is inserted.
for some reason it sounds normal clean chime most of the time and some days it sounds like a cat when you step on its tail
like there is a loose connection. is that a bad sign of some catastrophic engine failure like everything else in the car?
i feel like any small issue leads to some kind of catastrophic paperweigt condition for entire car..

In my 2014 C350, every time I push the start button or insert (not turn) the key, there is a buzz which is the ESL motor actuating. Then, when turning the car off and opening the driver's door, I get the "don't forget your key" reminder chime. I think it has always been like this. The ESL activation can be quite loud. Is this what you are talking about?

It sounds like the buzzer/alarm you're experiencing might be related to a fault in the ignition switch or a malfunctioning door/ignition sensor. Since everything else is working fine and there are no codes, I recommend checking these components or get a good scanner like Star or Youcanic to scan the car.
