Car will not rev passed 3000RPM code P010C38 MAF short to ground help.

Hi All

I have a friends E Class Cab A207 I am trying to help him with an issue on that he has low power and the car will not rev passed 3000 rpm so feels sluggish.
I have used three different diagnostic tools, Launch, iCarsoft and Maxicom and they all provide the same errors which is good, these are:

Autel Maxicom 808 errors:
P246364 - Soot content of the DPF is not OK, there is an implausible signal.
P246385 - Soot content of the DPF is not OK, there is a signal above the permissible limit value.
P010C38 - MAF sensor 2 has a short circuit to ground. There is an incorrect signal frequency.

Launch errors:
Same numbers as above

iCarsoft:
Same numbers but on the MAF it states sensor B instead of sensor 2 (so still seems correct)

My thoughts are that the DPF and MAF faults are unrelated and merely coincidental. The car has been taken for a long drive with high revs to try and clean the DPF.
In regards to the MAF can someone tell me which MAF sensor looking at the engine is sensor 2 or B (i.e. left or right)
I have tried to clean the MAF with some contact cleaner but no joy, which you think that a new MAF should fox the issue P010C38 ?
If I clear the faults they come straight back.

Many thanks in advance.

Do you think you can read your sensor using a scanner?

It seems it is missing power. Likely a regulated 5V or internally controlled from a 12V input AND a clean GND as always.
That could be shorted out by another sensor sharing power.
So double-check that now or skip fwd... a new MAF does sound appealing.

Happy troubleshooting.

If I try to swap the plugs around to see if the fault moves with the plug then I will know its the MAF not the wiring.

that sounds good and while around there, look at the one reported as faulty if its dirty.

Thanks very much for the response, I used a little contact cleaner on both, there was a slight misting of oil on the inside of the ducting.

Not sure what year, but when I had MAF sensors I'd use brake cleaner on them. Mainly I'm posting because I remember how expensive the MAF was. The dealer wanted like $500 and elsewhere was like $200? Then I saw the same sensor at a friends VW shop for $20. So I bought one just to see and it was in fact the same MFing sensor and worked fine. Same mfg too, which I forget now. So I kept it in the trunk as a spare, and troubleshooting tool. Fyi.

PS; nice lookin car you got there A1. Scotland ay? Ever heard of Rose Castle? 1/4 of my blood comes from that place.
